The weather has been beautiful the last couple of days, and there are so many lovely things to see and enjoy through biking. I am not a bike enthusiast, but I used to love biking in the countryside to gather wild edibles and pick up eggs and a jar of honey from the neighbouring village. I lost interest in riding my bike and left it unattended for a year, just sitting outside the house.
I seem to care less about new things but love tinkering with old things. I find them more interesting, full of character and meaning.
Suddenly, I had the urge to ride, but to my dismay, the bike was not working.
I was shocked to see it full of rust. Well, what do you expect if it wasn't kept properly? I had neglected it.
I spent some time restoring it to a decent, rideable state. First, I removed as much rust as I could.
I applied anti-rust, and I enjoyed its beautiful pink colour.
Then, I sprayed all the joints with WD-40. It's great stuff for smoothing mechanisms.
I pumped the flat tyres and checked the bolts.
And scrubbed the bike.
The result wasn't too bad. Most of the rust has gone away! It was a good few hours of work; I was trying to finish before the sun went down so I could test it.
I left home excited to ride and test it. The sun was setting at around 7 p.m., and I was trying to chase it to go to my favourite place to see the beautiful sunset.
A few neighbours on my way were pleased to see me riding again. They all had big smiles as I waved them hello.
When I reached the place, the sun was hiding under the clouds.
So I just enjoyed the fresh air, greenery, and lovely evening views;
I thought there was another day, something to look forward to!
Even though clouds hid the sunset, the serene evening views were worth the ride.
I stopped by and drank the still-hot coffee while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
It was getting dark quickly, so I returned home, but I felt fulfilled that I had restored my old bike and made it part of a new adventure.
Have a wonderful day, everyone.
