Talking about politics is fine but taking part in it is finer. You can't possibly complain of the ills of society where you can play an active role and help make it better. In my home country Nigeria, people steer clear from politics because they consider it a dirt game. My take on politics from time has been that politics evolves in every spectre of human engagement. Man himself is a political animal.
As much as one likes to compare politics that exist in nations, every nation is peculiar in some ways but cannot be isolated, one from the other.
Emergence Of The Political Class In Nigeria
On October 1st 1960, Nigeria gained her independence from the British colonialists. It wasn't an easy movement to claim that freedom. Some basic elements helped in bringing this dream to fulfilment.
The return of some educated elites
The activities of nationalists like Herbert Macaulay
Ex-service men of the second world war
The United Nations Declaration amongst others
Our nation was not completely free from British interference as the highest ruling court was called the privy council and appeals were made to the Queen of England. This to say that our sovereignty was not total. As a result, there was a move to make Nigeria a truly independent state.
In 1963, Nigeria became a federal republic. Here, the constitution of the country was designed by Nigerians and for Nigerians likewise.
Over the years, Nigeria has evolved as a state of peculiar attributes just like every other nation of the world.
Nigeria And The Wider World
Foreign policy is one attribute of nations in making alliances in trade, development, military wares and the likes. This agenda has however polarised the world into two blocs. The east and the west. Where the east are of socialist economic agenda, the West is capitalist.
Nigeria had methodically played a neutral follower like her African counterparts in what is called the non-aligned movement. As such, only what secures her political interest is dabbled into.
If politics is not favourable to the citizens, then it is a waste.
People must benefit from the political agenda of any state or political party.
We have learned that any state that fails to provide the basic amenities of life to her citizens is a failed state.
Fundamental human rights must be duly protected. This is the first essence of any political process. The safety of lives and property and human dignity should be toyed with.
Failures Attributed To Politics
The processes of emancipation in major countries in the world have been marred by bloodshed and violence and corruption.
Nations where democracy is practiced have witnessed a great level of civil disobedience.
This accounts for the intervention of the military into politics. Even though no excuse is tenable for the military to take part in politics, there has been gross embezzlement of public funds by the civilian government.
Dilapidation of infrastructures is another failure that has been witnessed in politics. The insincerity of politicians maintaining social edifice by preceding regimes have caused a lot of abandoned projects or initiatives.
Public sensitization or education which ought to be the duties of political parties have been left idle. Many citizens do not know what their rights are. Many don't know how public funds are disbursed, to what office(s), how to access social benefits and the likes. This has continued especially in developing nations of the world where the rich get richer at the expense of the poor.
Why Everyone Should Involve in Politics
As said elsewhere in this publication, every human being is a political animal because whether directly or indirectly, we play politics at some level.
No one should hence take a back seat when they have the capability to cause a change or influence some decision for the betterment of society.
There are more ground yet to cover. You can imagine many nations of the world beating around the bush in discovering potentials and taking the right steps towards nation building. So, you should be a stakeholder in the affair that affects you, your family and generations yet unborn.
In Africa, the political class are not the most educated. They are the ones who have seized the opportunity at their disposal while the most qualified are taking a nap in the comfort of their bedroom.
To effect a change, to be a catalyst of change, one must be ready to get involved in the process of making the change come through by engaging in politics.

Appeasement policy was associated with UK's then prime minister Neville Chamberlain and was used to define a series of policies that were adopted by "Western Allies" (the UK was the spearhead of this group back then, the U.S was relatively still in an isolated nature) to appease the aggression of Hitler without getting into a physical war with Nazi Germany. It may range from territorial concessions to any political/social concession as long as "hopefully" it won't lead to a greater conflict between states. The policies were actually pretty much supported by the public opinion back then, as these were actually perceived as signs of serious developments in modern diplomacy, a much more modern way to moderate disagreements/conflicts between different states.
This work should go viral. The world needs nothing than unity and love now and ever. With this policy of appeasement, continuity is bound to happen.
Like the formation of the United Nations is aimed to prevent another world war, to achieve this objectives, nations of the world must see to it that there is tolerance and appeasement.
Appeasement is nothing that a methodical way of preventing another world war.
This is an insightful post that you should read to get more understanding about alliances and treaties in the world before this dispensation.
