DCC tag contest - Let's support #curation
I have been on Hive for over a year now and I understand a little about curation. What I believe is that everyone is a curator but the value varies. A user being a whale on Hive and a Newbie that is just starting can curate posts but their values are what makes a difference. On Hive, Whales are considered the major curators.
Curation is an act of scrutinizing a post and once it is found as an original one can be given a reward for such content as a way to appreciate the efforts of the author.
Our main focus is to appreciate the amazing work of creators on our HIVE blockchain & their unique educational and inspirational content.

This is a curation post that helps to curate people´s posts and not just any post, but original and unique content that deserves to be seen and appreciated. This is to let you know that as a curator, it is your responsibility to go through posts that are unique and give them the reward they deserve
A curator does a huge work curating posts because he will have to read a post, and check if it is plagiarism free or not, proper use of image source and of quality. Once all these have been passed, he goes ahead to upvote with a big value on the post.
I also curate as a user on Hive, even though my upvote value isn´t enough, I love to reward good content that is worth it. I am a moderator in the Ecotrain community and my duty is to read and comment on posts and also to check if the content isn´t copied anywhere by using the plagiarism checker to do that for me and once I found out any errors either through improper image sourcing, or pictures taken from any other sites not allowed, I quickly alert the author and guide him or her on the right way to source, the right image to use. Definitely, such a post won´t be curated until all mistakes have been corrected.
To make your post curated, you have to go through the effort of making the best content and making sure you passed all criteria for good and quality content.
In a community, curators should be assigned to check through posts. The work of a curator is so tasking and not easy and so, it is important for a community to have more than one curators who would help and assist each other to scrutinize the content.
Just as contests and challenges are organized in many communities on Hive, good and quality content should be rewarded for their efforts. Curators should go through each post carefully and see if there are no errors and once everything is intact, then values should be given to thank the author. This definitely would make the author happy and proud of his or her work.
I have many times wished I have enough Hive power to be able to assign worth on quality and original content. There is much quality content on this platform that needs to be recognized and appreciated for its efforts. If I were to be a whale on Hive, I will make sure to do my job to curate quality content. I will organize weekly contests just like many communities here. I will go through the content to assign values to those who really deserve it. Though it takes a lot of time and works to do that, it would be something worth using to my advantage.
The importance of curation in any community is to identify the good content from the plagiarized ones. There are many users I have come across on Hive that only focus on earning, thereby not giving more time to present quality content. They just post a few lines with no meaning and just publish and go. Curation is important so as to kick off these users, make them understand through the comment section what it is they are doing wrong and guide them to make changes and be a good content creator.
Curation is important so that the authors who bring quality content, and are rewarded hugely will keep doing their best to improve as good content creators.
We have a lot of users who bring quality content and they are easily identified. As a curator, the only tips I can think of are to go through a post carefully, realizing that it takes time as a curator to curate and also check through plagiarism checkers to help you identify posts which are just copied and posted from sites without sourcing where they get it from and be able to guide them in the right way.
All original posts should always be curated as a way to make the authors encouraged to keep coming and posting quality content and also be able to improve themselves daily.
This is a tough question for me 😂 because I have a lot of them that I can´t start mentioning. There are many great content creators on Hive that I so much read and learn from their content. People like @Olawalium @Josediccus @Starstrings @Iskafan @Merit.ahama etc I can´t keep listing as it goes on and on. Lol
