I do not own a piece of waterfront land. You wouldn't know it if you looked out my back door right now. The photo above was actually taken back in May of 2020, but the scene is pretty much exactly the same today. If I had to pick out any difference, the grass isn't quite as green yet, but the water is just as high. As for the front yard, back when this flooding happened in 2020, our road was completely underwater and it was reaching about halfway up our driveway.
Thankfully, that isn't the case six years later. I can't say the same for the rest of the state. Once again there are dams on the verge of failing, and people all across the area are dealing with flooded yards, basements, and houses. I was up late the other night and as our sump pump would stop running and then start back up immediately, I was reminded of that date in 2019 when our old sump pump couldn't keep up with the load and it failed leaving our basement in about three inches of water.
About half a year later the images above were taken. Hopefully rain like this only happens once every six years. I don't think I could handle it if this became the norm. I was also thinking it's too bad this rain hasn't brought the same "pump" to the crypto markets like we saw just before 2020. Actually I can't even remember when the last real pump was for altcoins. I just know it was sometime around the same time.
Bitcoin on the other hand has seen some more action, but we are a far cry from the $120K top we were at. I'm not going to complain about a $10K increase, but man $120K or higher would be really nice am I right?
Splinterlands
I still haven't decided what I am going to do yet about my SPS node in Splinterlands, but after following the posts from , I finally decided to play around with Frontier in Splinterlands yesterday. It took a little bit of struggle and a support ticket to get things going. Apparently because I have been using a bot in Wild, I was banned from collecting rewards in Modern. After agreeing not to use the bot in Modern format stuff, they were gracious enough to unlock my account.
I think my biggest problem right now is the seeming lack of people actually playing rounds in Frontier. One of the things I used to hate about Hearthstone was a match taking close to half an hour to play because you first had to wait for an opponent, then you had to wait for them to make their moves. It was just long and drawn out. It's part of the reason I stopped playing, and I hope that isn't an indication of how Splinterlands is going. The fact that you pick your whole team ahead of time is nice. That definitely cuts down on the match time, but having to wait for an opponent is aggrivating.
GoMining
I've been investing a portion of my crypto earnings lately in to a project called GoMining. This has actually been around for a while and you are effectively buying NFTs that represent your contribution to the groups BTC mining power. You can sell your NFTs if you decide to get out, and you can get your earnings in either BTC or the platform token GMT.
This is a long term investment for me where you are basically betting on the idea that BTC will continue to be successful and go up. It's not a quick flip like the NFTs I used to buy over on WAX back in 2020. It's more of a three to four year break even sort of thing (unless BTC takes off), and then either continue for a passive income or sell your miner and take your profits.
I find the mechanics interesting, and it has been fun to watch my miner grow as I upgrade it. Plus the interest rate on locking the GMT token is pretty good too!
OmenX
Out of my involvement in GoMining, I was introduced to a project called OmenX by . It's a Web 3.0 gaming platform where developers will be able to create and distribute their games from what I understand. The key piece of this is that they already have some games up and running. This isn't one of those things where they have a token but keep promising games days, weeks, months, and years after the fact, they actually have the games now.
Of course, the games and the platform are still very pre-alpha, so you are highly encouraged to do your own research and invest at your own risk, but this is a project that I am happy to actually get in early on. Even if it doesn't totally work out, I should have fun playing the games. I think they have some pack sells coming out soon, so if you are interested, get signed up with the referral link above and keep an eye out for those.
Everything Else
As for everything else, I just keep on plugging away a little at a time. I'm slowly continuing to grow my HIVE accounts, I am still investing in COTI and VET, and I am waiting for some of the other alts I am holding like CHEX, and traditional investments like SMR to actually do something. Investing is boring, it takes patience and time. Thankfully I at least have one of those (I hope)!
