I was sitting on the couch the other night while my wife was in the kitchen when she suddenly said to me that I need to come in the kitchen with my phone. She said something like "yours takes better pictures than mine". I figured there was a deer or something in the woods behind our house, so I was kind of surprised when I saw the sky.
It's not that we haven't had skies like this before, but it doesn't happen all the time, so I usually try to capture it if I am hope. I already shared some of the photos earlier in the week within other posts, but I am going to share some more with you here today.
So BTC seems to be on a bit of a rebound despite the global stuff that is going on. While some are pointing to the whole 10 AM Jane Street thing, others are saying this is BTC decoupling from the traditional markets. Personally, I don't really know as though it is either of those. I think you can pick facts and build a narrative from just about anything.
We are still quite a ways down from the all time high, and until alts start doing something significant, it's just business as usual for me.
HIVE
HIVE seems to be doing typical HIVE things. The price of HBD is quite a bit below that $1 peg, and the price of the native token is "whatever". There are some interesting things in the works with and stuff like that. Whether or not it actually makes a difference remains to be seen. My fear is that any moves will be short lived and not sustainable long term. We might get some initial hype, but after that, will it be back to the same old same old? Either way, I plan on continuing to build my stack and try to grow my account waiting for a time when things look a bit more positive.
Engagement has dropped off the face of the Earth, but that isn't too uncommon during times like this.
Silver Price
The price of silver seems to have taken a bit of a tumble as well. This really doesn't impact me too much, but the thought of $300 silver was a lot more attractive than $80. If you are thinking it might still hit that point, this could be a good time to buy. As for me, I just plan on holding. If the price were to drop back down to the $60 per ounce range I might pick up some more, but until then I am just going to hold steady like I have been the past couple of years.
If prices go back up around Christmas time next year, I might have to re-evaluate what I am going to get my nephew for his Godson present.
COTI
COTI is one of those tokens I have been investing in for quite some time now. I've seen arguments that if they have been around this long there is little chance they are going to moon like we have seen some alt coins. I'm actually okay with that. I have a pretty decent stake locked up earning me a very nice interest rate. If the price even goes up marginally, it will be a nice passive income for me. I don't have quite as much as some other folks I know here on HIVE, but I am growing my stack and like I said, it could eventually amount to something.
Or it ends up going to zero. Whatever. That 30% interest rate is hard to argue with though. Plus I get some GCOTI tokens each week apparently. I honestly don't pay too much attention right now. I just go in once a week or every other week and reinvest my earnings. I just need to make sure I have enough GCOTI on hand to keep my interest rate boosted. I discovered the other day you can swap COTI to GCOTI on Uniswap. It's kind of a pain to bridge the tokens over to ETH then back to the COTI network, but it does work and it is an easy way to get some GCOTI from your earnings if you don't want (or can't) just outright buy it.
In addition to that, the COTI privacy protocol called garbled circuits just got a shout out the other day from Vitalik of ETH fame. I know he isn't a lot of people's favorite person right now, so I take it all with a grain of salt, but the fact that someone so influential has it on their radar can't be a bad thing.
SMR
My favorite nuclear power stock is taking a beating right now. Apparently they are in the middle of a lawsuit and the price of the stock is getting close to where it was during the IPO. I don't really mind too much, I think there is still a lot of potential there, but time will tell I guess. If they can finally produce a product and get some more contracts, I think they will be in really good shape.
On the home front
and I got our taxes done the other day. I think I mentioned that in my post last week, but our federal return was already delivered to us via direct deposit. Now we just wait for the state one to come in. In addition to that, we got our tax valuation from the local municipality the other day and I am happy to say that the value of our house has went up about 62% from where we purchased it at, so that is kind of cool. I'm not mad about that at all. Especially since we are looking to hopefully move again one day soon.
