This week our secure zone was invaded yet again by the same person who has been active for the last 18 months. I find it highly frustrating dealing with a community who are amateurs when it comes to crime. There is a reason why certain houses are being targeted continuously and that is they are soft easy targets.
My front door remains wide open until I go to sleep so the dogs can walk in and out freely. My sleeping patterns are not the same and some nights can be up till 3 or 4 am doing budgets and costing exercises. there is a reason why our property has not been hit and that is we are aware and in some ways would welcome some late night entertainment which will not happen.
This was a previous theft from a garden shed in which a weed eater /strimmer was stolen. This house has sensors in the garden, but you can see them and they are not hidden like they should be.
This week 4 houses were targeted and what I find quite funny is the items that have been stolen. Two houses lost a peg bag which is a bag that hangs on your washing line and is used to store pegs. Someone lost a couple of towels and this is not serious crime and is considered petty crime. A few weeks ago this small time thief gained entry to a house and stole a tv remote some beer and a speaker box. Maybe this thief has a sense of humor because who steals a tv remote.
** I was wide awake working on the 22nd at 01.54 am and would have liked to have known we had a runner evading the police. It turned out he was hiding in someone's garden when the police were called out and evaded capture. If we had dogs we could have woken up the neighborhood and flushed him out very quickly.**
This is the latest picture they have and literally the first one in months and I am sure if they check back they will find far more, but no one is checking. This thief is not elusive and seems elusive because of the community and their non response.
I have told them on numerous occasions if you know the thief is in their yard then please alert the community giving me time to throw on some clothes and put my dog on a leash which would take 2 minutes. This guy would have less than a 10% chance of getting away yet each time this happens the messages are only sent in the morning when it is 8 hours since the action went down. The problem is the entire community is fast asleep by midnight and I am the only one wide awake. I hear the alarms being activated ,but not sure if they are triggered in error or not due to no activity on the group chat at that time of night.
This week they have called for another meeting and I will have to tell them the truth how slack they all are and have no chance of finding or catching the thief due to them being tucked in bed when this guy is active. We used to do a patrol once or twice per night and I stopped that as I was the only one doing this and felt that others should be either joining me on the walk or doing their own shift.
