We knew of each other in the army and bumped into each other whilst doing business about 20 years later. We clicked and did a few things together and made a promise to always help each other. I did a business deal and shared the profits with him as I knew he could do with the extra finances at the time. This is just how we work and this deal he arranged was reliant on me being part of it or not at all. The trust we have is like two brothers. We share our business ideas and help each other with advice and probably know his business as well as he does.
