The last few days we managed to get the meetings done and over the next few days will be sorting out what needs to happen. The accountant was the most important part of the trip being on the Friday and he got the message loud and clear without actually having to say what we were asking.
Lots of ships on the horizon travelling between the Far East and Europe now that the Suez Canal is blocked they will be going around Africa for the time being. At one stage I counted 14 which is way more than normal.
He is an old friend of the family and he needs to see the company books before he can make any decisions. We filled him in as much as we could and he thinks there are no drastic measures required and will quote his fees accordingly. I explained we have a "text book" accountant who has some pages missing from her text book and we believe he has the complete book which made him chuckle. The thing is we know what he is capable of as my brother in law used to use him for his business when he was still alive and this guy paid for virtually nothing.
The picture above was Saturday morning on Umhlangha beach as I promised the grand kids we would go play in the sand. We did not play in the surf as I do not trust the water quality due to sewerage infrastructure failures with this flowing directly into the sea. I know how bad it is and has been for a long time because of the sewerage farm off the Durban Bluff. My army base was there and on certain days the stench was unbelievably bad that you could almost taste it. No upgrades have happened since those days and how many more people are living here now tells you this is a big problem. Acceptable by health standards telling me the water is 40% ok by the chart is not giving me any positive vibes and I did not want to be swimming with turds.
The kids got to see some monkeys on the way back to the hotel when we were walking up the beach path. We had to point them out as the place is crawling with life if you look hard enough.
I took them to the hotel pool early on Sunday morning which was fun and on the return trip back to Johannesburg today we stopped off for the promised foofie slide/ zip line revisit. My grandson was not letting anyone forget so this could not be skipped and we spent an hour here today.
Here is my grand son having a great time and my grand daughter went down once on her own and would not be coaxed into doing it again. When she went down she is only 3 and very small so the ride did not end exactly as where it would normally and she got a fright and it was a good thing she has a tight grip. I was hoping to get a photo of her in action and she was having none of it.
The roads were much quieter today and the trip back was much quicker with less trucks holding you up thorough the road works. I think there is ahigh chance of a speeding fine as one of the speed cameras flicked me twice which we shall see if they had film loaded or not. I am sure we will receive a photograph in the post this week as these smaller municipalities rarely run out of film as speeding fines is their revenue they rely on.
Not sure what or where this old cart is from but it was dated on a plaque from 1904 so a good 120 years old and most likely from a local farm nearby.
This is a new addition to the rest stops when driving being a dog exercise area so they can have some water and food and do their business if needed. Every stop had one of these and thought it was great to see that dogs are being thought of.
