El Carnaval ya ha iniciado, y en plena celebración les comparto algunas fotografías de mi paseo por la Feria del Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Esta feria estará activa hasta el próximo domingo 18 de febrero, justo cuando se da por terminado el Carnaval. Visitar este lugar me trajo un sentimiento un poco extraño, ya que tantas luces de neón, atracciones, juegos y gente disfrutando del lugar era algo que tenía muchísimo tiempo que no veia a mi alrededor.
Carnival has already begun, and in full celebration, I share some pictures of my walk through the Carnival Fair of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This fair will be active until next Sunday, February 18, when the Carnival ends. Visiting this place brought me a strange feeling since so many neon lights, attractions, games and people enjoying the place was something that I had not seen around me for a long time.
Caminé hasta este lugar de casualidad, ya que no sabía que dicha feria estaba allí. Si bien unos días antes pasé por allí mientras se instalaban las atracciones, ignoraba que la magnitud de la feria fuera tan grande. Existe una gran cantidad de kioskos con venta de comida rápida, obsequios, recuerdos, e incluso lugares donde ganas premios por acertar dardos, de esos que siempre salen en películas y series (no recuerdo el nombre de estos lugares). Es mi primer carnaval en la isla y no sabía que dicha feria se instalaba en el lugar, en plena explanada y Avenida Constitución, justo al lado del Intercambiador de Santa Cruz.
I walked to this place by chance, as I did not know that the fair was there. Although I had passed by a few days before while the attractions were being installed, I was unaware that the magnitude of the fair was so big. There are a lot of kiosks selling fast food, gifts, souvenirs, and even places where you win prizes for hitting darts, those that always appear in movies and series (I do not remember the name of these places). It is my first carnival on the island and I did not know that this fair was installed in the place, on the esplanade and Constitution Avenue, right next to the Santa Cruz Interchange.
Las ferias a las que estaba acostumbrado de ver en Venezuela eran algunas muy pequeñas y puntuales en Centros Comerciales. Lo que más recuerdo más o menos similar a esta feria en Venezuela son los parques de atracciones de Dunas, La Venezuela de Antier, y la Montaña de los Sueños en Mérida. Al ir caminando por allí de casualidad y ví la primera atracción, pensé que era la única, pero mi sorpresa fue grande al ver que habían muchas. Hay desde laberintos para niños, hasta toros, carros chocones, montañas rusas, bolsas de boxeo para golpear y ganar premios, un tren de terror y sustos (que tengo pendiente visitar para hacer un video para @ZonaDeEscalofrio), entre otras cosas. No puedo creer que no tomé fotografías de una de las atracciones principales: una Noria / Rueda Gigante / Vuelta al Mundo, que se ve desde el horizonte por las noches.
The fairs I was used to seeing in Venezuela were some very small and punctual ones in shopping malls. What I remember most similar to this fair in Venezuela are the amusement parks of Dunas, La Venezuela de Antier, and the Mountain of Dreams in Merida. As I was walking around there by chance and saw the first attraction, I thought it was the only one, but my surprise was great when I saw that there were many. There are everything from mazes for kids, to bulls, bumper cars, roller coasters, boxing bags to punch and win prizes, and a train of terror and scares (which I have yet to visit to make a video for @ZonaDeEscalofrio), among other things. I can't believe I didn't take pictures of one of the main attractions: a Ferris Wheel / Giant Wheel / Around the World, which can be seen from the horizon at night.
Esta gran cantidad de atracciones y eventos (como el Carnaval) me hace plantearme seriamente un giro profesional en mi futuro laboral aqui en Tenerife: Ingeniero Civil de instalación de Parque de Atracciones y Tarimas de Conciertos🎢🎡👷. No es una mala idea, pero debería averiguar más al respecto. Lo que más me sorprendió de toda la feria es una especie de "martillo" gigante que se balancea y gira al mismo tiempo, dejando a las personas muy conmocionadas. Justo al lado había un Barco Vikingo gigante que se balancea.
This great amount of attractions and events (like Carnival) makes me seriously consider a professional turn in my future job here in Tenerife: Civil Engineer for the installation of Amusement Park and Concert Stages🎢🎡👷. Not a bad idea, but I should find out more about it. What surprised me the most about the whole fair was a sort of giant "hammer" that swings and spins at the same time, leaving people very shocked. Right next to it was a giant Viking Ship that swung.
Creo que aún teniendo dinero de sobra para probar todas las atracciones no me montaría en aquellas como las que ya mencioné arriba. De hecho, sólo ví niños, adolescentes y personas de menos de 22 años en esas atracciones. El precio para todas o casi todas estas atracciones es de 4 euros. No sé si es caro o barato en comparación a otros parques del mundo, pero mi intuición me dice que es un poco caro. Algunas atracciones se veían muy interesantes, sobre todo la casa de los sustos.
I think that even if I had enough money to try all the rides I would not ride the ones I mentioned above. In fact, I only saw children, teenagers, and people under 22 years old on those rides. The price for all or almost all of these rides is 4 euros. I don't know if it is expensive or cheap compared to other parks in the world, but my intuition tells me that it is a bit expensive.
