Today I've been thinking about how these holiday days just fly by, do you feel that way too? It seems like December and January together last as long as one single month, yet they're trying to convince us they are two legit ones, both even 31 days long. Yeah right, no waaay! π
I know, I know, there's a logical explanation that it's winter now, the daylight is much shorter, the nights are longer, I get all that, buuut something there is seriously off. A-a, nope, I don't buy it! It has to be some kind of global conspiracy. π
Anyway, driven by that feeling, I've been really lazy these past few days. We had mountains of food left over after our slava, we celebrated St. Nicholas on December 19, so nobody has cooked anything lately, which is just great. The kitchen has been perfectly clean every single day. π For breakfasts, we usually ate the leftover appetizers: mushroom pie, spinach pie, a poppy seed roll with a meat-free "Mimosa salad" style filling and a savory wafer cake with tuna and sweet corn. Yummm. Considering how hard we went for all those "snacks", it's strange they even lasted a few days. For lunch we had smoked and regular carp and for dessert there was also a lot of cakes, too. I did try to cut back there though, because over the past month I really let myself relax a bit too much when it comes to healthy eating.
That whole mission is made even harder by our friend with whom we play cards almost every other evening, because as you can see, she always makes something sooo delicious and sweet that I simply cannot resist. Especially when I know it's all vegan, suitable for the fast and that she decided to make it that way just because of me. How am I supposed to be rude and say no? Now, the fact that I don't know how to stop at just one piece, that's already my problem. xD
Aren't they lovely?
Not just the way they look, but the taste too and they're literally made with just a few ingredients. Flour, sugar, margarine (I think) and then this decoration she bought at the store, with which she drew the prettiest little patterns on top.
I wasn't surprised when I saw them, because I know she's a real artist when it comes to decorating. She makes the same kind of masterpieces on Easter eggs and she often surprises her loved ones with little baskets made out of newspaper. And the flowers she once made from crepe paper for a wedding decoration for some of their relatives were just stunning. It's honestly hard to even describe them with words.
I'll leave you to enjoy the photos while I turn to something else. Snooooow. βοΈYes, finally! It's started falling, it hasn't gone white anywhere yet, still just dancing around in the air, but it's beautiful. I pulled the curtains away from the window, opened it a little to air out the room and enjoyed the viewβ¦ while pairing socks. xD Lots of socks, because like I said, I've been pretty lazy these few days, so a whole bunch of washed and dried but still unmatched socks piled up.
I was thinking of going for a walk in nature while it's still day outside, but after all this typing and looking at the cakes, I'm now sooo hungry that the rumbling in my stomach is louder than everything around me. So I'm off to have some food and I wish you all a lovely day today and every day & happy holidays! πππ
