When we arrived, my mommy’s face became bright. She was so happy to see us. Even if the storm & Earthquake scared her, she still welcomed us with warmth. She prepared puto cheese, brownies & Home-made Carbonara.
She also preparing a grilled pork and bananas to fry. She always makes sure we have food to enjoy when we visit. But that time, I could not help her in the kitchen.
I was the one who watched over the little kids. My cousins and my younger sister were inside the tent, singing together. They were laughing and enjoying their time. Inside the house, my other cousins were playing on their phones because the electricity had already returned. The whole house felt lively again after the sad days brought by the storm and even if there's still have an aftershocks of Earthquake.
After we ate lunch, I felt sleepy. So around mid-afternoon, I went inside the tent to take a short nap. The tent was cool and quiet, and the children’s soft voices made me feel relaxed. After some minutes, I woke up and went back inside to eat again. Days like this are simple, but they feel special because we are together as a family.
When evening came, we all went outside. The air felt fresh and cold. We looked around the yard and saw many trees that had fallen. The storm was truly strong. One of the biggest trees that fell was the tamarind tree. It was huge, and a chainsaw was used to cut it into pieces for safety. My father looked at the wood and said that it could be used to make a chopping board because the wood was smooth and strong.
We stayed outside for a while, talking and sharing stories while looking at the broken branches and the quiet night sky. Even if the storm caused fear, it also reminded us how important family is. We help each other, we visit each other, and we make each other feel safe. At the end of the day, we felt thankful. Mommy was no longer nervous, the kids were happy, and the house felt warm again. The storm may have taken down trees, but it did not take away our love and togetherness. This day will be a memory I will keep close to my heart.
“Storms pass, but the love that stays is what makes us brave.”
This wonderful quotes reminds me that life gives us hard days, just like real storms. We feel scared, tired, and unsure of what will happen next. But storms do not last forever. What truly helps us stand strong is the love we receive from the people who stay by our side. Their care, their presence, and their support remind us that we are not alone. That love gives us courage, strength, and also hope. Even when everything around us feels broken, the love helps us rise again.
