Hace mucho no me juntaba con los chicos a jugar TEG. Los juegos de mesa son un clásico que ya no se hace cotidianamente. Hace unos años jugábamos más seguido, no solo TEG, sino también juegos de Rol como Vampiros la Mascarada y Calabozos y Dragones y en ocasiones monopoly o poker. Aunque el Monopoly es demasiado dependiente de la suerte y las primeras rondas, luego se pone monótono y lento.
Con el tiempo fue quedando el TEG. Es un juego que si bien está basado en la suerte, las estrategias y alianzas tienen un peso importantísimo. El objetivo es la dominancia mundial. Se colocan fichas en un país y turno a turno vas reforzando dependiendo cuantos países poseas. Quien mas tiene mas fichas pone y aumenta sus chances de prevalecer en sus ataques. Pero la eficiencia a la hora de colocar las fichas, el conocimiento del mapa y las interconecciones entre los países y continentes.
También hay otras maneras de ganar, al principio de la partida cada jugador recibe un objetivo aleatorio inferior a la conquista global pero bastante específico. Si fuiste afortunado en la división de países puede que tu objetivo sea factible por medio de alianzas con otros jugadores o sino simplemente tenes que dedicarte a la expansión y manejo eficiente de tus fuerzas.
Es un juego muy maleable y entretenido, pero también bastante competitivo. A medida que avanza la partida y se va decidiendo el destino de la partida los ánimos pueden ponerse bastante intensos. Alianzas que fallan, fichas que se pierden, mucha mala suerte, nunca falta un enojo o una pelea. Pero son cosas pasajeras y siempre terminamos la noche riendo. Escuchando algo de música o mirando alguna serie o película. La verdad fue un buen fin de semana, me divertí bastante.
Aprovechamos como excusa el partido de Argentina contra Perú y si bien hacía bastante frío junté coraje y terminé saliendo. Fue el día más frío del año (hasta ahora) pero la verdad no me arrepiento!

It's been a long time since I've been playing TEG with the boys. Board games are a classic that is no longer played on a daily basis. A few years ago we played more often, not only TEG, but also role-playing games like Vampires the Masquerade and Dungeons and Dragons and sometimes Monopoly or Poker. Although Monopoly is too dependent on luck and the first rounds, it later becomes monotonous and slow.
Over time, TEG was left behind. It is a game that, although based on luck, strategies and alliances have a very important weight. The objective is world domination. You place pieces in a country and turn by turn you strengthen them depending on how many countries you have. Whoever has more pieces puts in more and increases their chances of prevailing in their attacks. But efficiency when placing the pieces, knowledge of the map and the interconnections between countries and continents.
There are also other ways to win, at the beginning of the game each player receives a random objective that is lower than global conquest but quite specific. If you were lucky in the country division, your goal may be feasible through alliances with other players, or else you simply have to dedicate yourself to the expansion and efficient management of your forces.
It is a very malleable and entertaining game, but also quite competitive. As the game progresses and the fate of the game is decided, the mood can get quite intense. Alliances that fail, pieces that are lost, a lot of bad luck, there is always anger or a fight. But these are temporary things and we always end the night laughing, listening to some music or watching a series or movie. The truth is that it was a good weekend, I had a lot of fun.
We took advantage of the Argentina vs. Peru game as an excuse and even though it was quite cold, I gathered courage and ended up going out. It was the coldest day of the year (so far) but the truth is that I do not regret it!
