At the start of each day at the warehouse, after opening the warehouse doors at 9:00 am in the morning, which is the official resumption time. Everyone is expecting to be at the warehouse at least 9:10 am, due to the distance in some of the worker houses from the warehouse . By 9:11 a.m, we all gather at the center of the warehouse, bow our heads for a short but strong prayer first. Putting prayers first in everything you do is one of the secrets of successful business and life in general. During our prayer times, we give thanks to God for the previous success recorded days before in sales, and we thank God for his guidance in careful coordination of the warehouse activities on a daily basis. We also thank God for greater sales yet to come and for safety's all through the season. We also never forget to pray for the CEO and all the sales representatives that keep the sales coming through their commitment in hard work.
After the prayer time, we go straight to our morning briefing, which is given by our warehouse managers, which is Mr. Frank, And myself . Mr Frank is always on time to the warehouse and like an expert he talks and advises all the workers under our control in the warehouse with the experience he has gathered from time spent coordinating the warehouse day to day activities, but he acts in a humble and respectful way and carries everyone along. During the meeting, he tells us about the day's goals, upcoming deliveries, safety rules, and any changes to how we normally do things and how to do it even better. He always stresses working as a team, being on time to work, and being careful with things, especially the breakable goods . His words normally get us going by reminding us how important each of our jobs are to the warehouse running smoothly daily.
After Mr. Frank’s address, the workers are given the chance to speak and share any complaints that might hinder the day's work. This is one part of the routine that we all enjoy. It's a moment where everyone's voice matters. Workers bring up ideas on how we can improve work speed, reduce waste, avoid injuries, or handle products better. Some may talk about recent difficulties they’ve faced, such as delays in truck arrivals or shortage of equipment like wheelbarrow use in lifting goods to the second floor. Others offer practical ideas like reorganizing stacking methods or rotating jobs for fairness. All the important points made are carefully noted by Mr. Frank and myself, and feasible solutions are often implemented as early as the following day. Once the briefing and discussion end, we move straight to the day’s major job.
Today, we had two trucks fully loaded, one with crates of various drinks and the other with cartons of washing soap and liquid soap too. The team quickly got into position, with some assigned to the offloading zone while others arranged the goods in our pallet for ease of movement using a manual hand-lift machine . Despite the heavy task, there was a strong sense of order, communication, and teamwork among the managers and the workers. With everyone playing their part, the day’s events moved steadily. What started with prayer and discussion ended with a productive work shift, proving once again that starting the day right makes all the difference especially when prayer goes ahead.
