On the way to my girl's home
Had a really nice weekend this last week.
Saturday I made the trip from home to my gf's house, when I got there I had to walk at least 2-3kms around the center district to find her and my mother-in-law. Eventually found them and we did some shopping, it was quite fun.
With this small excursion I inaugurated the shoulderbag I bought.
It's not too big and not too small, it's the perfect size and made of some high quality comfy synthetic leather.
Then we got home at around lunch time, my father-in-law made some roast chicken and it was just incredible. Same for the food on Sunday.
After that it was a matter of helping around the house, cleaning and making sure everything was in order.
Gf wanted to show me her new monitor, and damn, it's pretty. The image is crystal clear and it just works really damn well. It's unfortunate that it's VGA, but she has speakers so everything is fine.
Her front aux ports are broken though, so she rarely uses her headset... which she borrowed to me and I'm using right now :P
Despite all the heat wave warnings, I still found myself a little cold. Something that still hasn't gone away. Most of Brazil is blazing hot right now but I guess my little rincon, my corner, got lucky.
Cold = Comfy clothes
Late at night I went to talk with my father-in-law and we spent at least over an hour chatting. He's a cool guy; loves technology and retro gaming. Has his own lab at home to fix electronics, that's one of his two jobs.
He showed me a new more powerful TV box that I had never seen before, I took a picture just to not forget about it, might buy it later because of how well Netflix and Prime work on it, not to mention it's an RK chip, so it can likely do a bit of emulation as well.
I also bought a PCIe USB 3.0 adapter from him, using it right now to send files over to a USB stick.
After that, nearing midnight, me and my girlfriend played a bunch of fighting games on her dad's beautiful silver UK fat PS2 and then watched Beetlejuice (1988), great movie.
Sunday was pretty chill, if you disregard the fact I woke up with some serious stomach ache, but it's alright. Lunch was simply incredible, with pasta, ground meat, Brazilian maionese, some really nice rice and more.
By that point my stomach ache was gone already, so I just enjoyed the food.
My father-in-law then showed me this AMD K-6 he owns, I just had to take a picture because I love AMD and computing history. The K-series is legendary.
He also showed me the tons of floppies he owns, all 3.5' driver floppies from when he built computers for others in the 90s.
After that we decided to watch the last Ghibli movie I haven't yet watched: Chihiro!
I was loving the movie, but we started a bit later and my friend who was going to give me a ride arrived before I could watch the movie till the end.
The timestamp is engrained in my memory though: 35:20 minutes before the movie ends.
The ride back home was very chill, some nice chatting with my friend.
Why did I write about this?
It was the best weekend I've had in quite a while now. In my last rant post I was quite sad, this weekend kind of upped my spirits a little - just enough to at least write about it on HIVE.
Spending time with loved ones is always great, specially after a hiatus due to disease and things you've got to do.
It was nice seeing everyone and seeing the girl I love the most.
All I have now is hope for more weekends like this, whilst I battle life's challenges.
