Hello my dear Hivers from this wonderful community ! How are you all doing? I hope you're feeling well and safe and able to do all the things you have set to accomplish today.
There are so many school activities that I enjoy celebrating. Specially when there are engaging activities to participate to. And more so I like activities that are meaningful and carries a message to the participants and the audience.
That's what I want to share with you today. A meaningful celebration we had at school. We celebrated the National Reading Month and National Book Week. The event was full of fun with the activities prepared including the colorful and artistic book character dress up, the mind-blowing spelling bee competition and the eargasmic choir reading competition.
The celebration started with a parade where all the learners participated. The book character dressed up learners led the parade. As you can see in the picture the one dressed up as a mermaid even needed a motorcycle ride to join the parade as he can't walk. With that he looked like a celebrity. And yes! He is a he. The story behind was a bit funny and cliche. In the grade 6 class no girl pupil could fit in the costume. So this brave and sport young man, accepted the challenge to represent their class as the costume perfectly fits him like it was tailored for his build.
I forgot to mention the book character dress up is a contest and it's by class. Since we only have 5 classes, 3 monogrades and 2 multigrades, there are only 5 participants for the event. My advisory's costume was Minnie Mouse inspired. While the mermaid was for the grade 6 class, the two card guards from Alice in Wonderland represent the grade 1 class, the fairy is the representative of grades 4&5, and lastly the one dressed as Elsa from the story Frozen is from the kindergarten.
Well, I won't brag but I am proud that our grades 2 & 3 Minnie Mouse inspired costume won the competition, yay! I didn't expect it because I saw how my co-teachers prepared for theirs too and they're beautiful and creative with their costumes.
So much for that, we also had the spelling bee competition which was facilitated by me. Lol! Haha I didn't know I would facilitate it but of course I have to accept it as my co-teachers are also busy with their parts of the program. And I didn't regret it because I enjoyed doing it. Specially that I also love this kind of competition back in my younger years.
There's also a choir reading where learners showcased their ability in reading with emotions, proper diction and pronunciation. Everyone enjoyed the performances, but the group who won the audience hearts, were from the grade 6 class.
To make sure learners are not just full in brain but also in stomach, we distributed the nutribuns and juices for the learners with the help of our supportive parents. Everyone is happy and full.
Learning is not limited to the four walls of the classrooms. It can also happen through these activities. I'm now looking forward to more fun and learning activities like this in school. That's all for today. Thanks for reading this far. Til my next post!
