Last weekend was one of the best I had with my friends because together we were able to do something we hadn't done for a long time: go to Parque de La Costa. There are many reasons why we don't go to this amusement park so often, in fact I only went 3 times in my life and the last time was more than 5 years ago. The main reason is that the fun that the park has is expensive: the entrance and the drinks inside it are quite high, but this time we went because my friend got us free tickets 😃.
El fin de semana pasado fue uno de los mejores que tuve con mis amigos porque juntos pudimos hacer algo que no hacíamos hace mucho: ir al Parque de La Costa. Son muchas las razones por las que no concurrimos tan seguido a este parque de diversiones, de hecho yo solo fui 3 veces en mi vida y la última fue hace más de 5 años. El principal motivo es que lo divertido que tiene el parque lo tiene de costoso: la entrada y las consumisiones dentro de él tienen un precio bastante alto, pero esta vez fuimos porque mi amigo nos consiguió entradas gratis 😃.
Another reason why we don't go so often is because this park is almost 3 hours from home. We live in the southern area of the City of Buenos Aires and to get to it we have to go to the northern area, precisely in the Tigre district. This trip involved an hour traveling by train, half an hour traveling by subway, and just over another hour traveling on another train. Then, walk a few blocks until we finally arrive. We had to leave home around 9AM and at noon we were already there 😊.
Otra de las razones por las que no vamos tan seguido es porque este parque queda a casi 3 horas de casa. Nosotros vivimos en la zona sur de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y para llegar hasta él tenemos que ir hasta la zona norte, precisamente en el partido de Tigre. Este viaje involucró una hora viajando en tren, media hora viajando en subte y poco más de otra hora viajando en otro tren. Luego, caminar algunas cuadras hasta que finalmente llegamos. Tuvimos que salir como a las 9AM de casa y en el mediodía ya estábamos allá 😊.
This area of Tigre is a port area and is a great place to come for a little walk on weekends. There are several places to go for a walk around the water of the river and there are also services for short rides in small boats. The boats that go into the Delta area also leave from here, a complex of islands where people usually go to relax for a while in the cabins in the middle of nature. There is also the famous Puerto de Frutos, a large fair where you can buy everything, but which I have never visited because whenever I come to Tigre I go directly to Parque de La Costa 😅.
Esta zona de Tigre es un área portuaria y es un gran lugar para venir a pasear un poco los fines de semana. Hay varios lugares para ir a caminar rodeando el agua del río y también hay servicios de paseos cortos en pequeñas embarcaciones. Desde aquí también parten las embarcaciones que se adentran en la zona del Delta, un complejo de islas en donde la gente suele ir a relajarse un rato en las cabañas en el medio de la naturaleza. También está el famoso Puerto de Frutos, una gran feria en donde se puede comprar de todo, pero que nunca he visitado porque siempre que vengo a Tigre voy directo al Parque de La Costa 😅.
After walking about six blocks, you will arrive at the entrance of the park. This amusement park is the largest in Argentina: the Parque de La Costa was inaugurated 25 years ago, it has a large space on the banks of the river where you can enjoy games with all levels of adrenaline. In order to enter, you must pay a ticket of your choice, depending on the games you want to play. The ticket that includes only children's rides is the cheapest, and the most famous is the "Gold Pass", which admits admission to almost all the rides, including all the roller coasters. In March 2023, this ticket cost 5900 ARS (approx. 16 USD) and it is recommended to cover the entire operating hours of the park to be able to get on all the attractions, only friday, saturday and sunday from 11 AM to 7.30 PM 😃.
Después de caminar unas seis cuadras, se llega a la entrada del parque. Este parque de diversiones es el más grande de Argentina: el Parque de La Costa fue inaugarado hace 25 años, cuenta con un gran espacio a orillas del río y en él se pueden disfrutar de juegos con todos los niveles de adrenalina. Para poder ingresar se debe abonar un ticket a elección, según los juegos a los que se quiera subir. El ticket que incluye solo juegos de niños es el más económico, siendo el más famoso el "Pasaporte Oro", que admite el ingreso a casi todos los juegos, incluidas todas las montañas rusas. En Marzo 2023, este ticket costaba 5900 ARS (16 USD aprox) y lo recomendado es abarcar todo el horario de funcionamiento del parque para poder subirse a todas las atracciones, solo viernes, sábados y domingos desde 11 AM hasta 7.30 PM 😃.
Despite the price, we didn't have to pay anything because my friend had free tickets. At work, they gave him tickets as an incentive for his good performance, and he took it upon himself to accumulate them until he had enough for everyone. We were 5 people, so you can see that he really wanted to do his job well. When he invited me to go to the park, and on top of that for free, I didn't even hesitate. They know what I like to walk and be outdoors. My only doubt was about the forecast: they announced a big storm in the afternoon, but we still risked going and for the moment, the weather was quite calm 😅.
A pesar del precio, nosotros no tuvimos que pagar nada porque mi amigo tenía entradas gratis. En su trabajo le regalaban entradas a modo de incentivo por su buen desempeño, y él se encargó de acumularlas hasta que tuvo suficientes para todos. Éramos 5 personas, así que se ve que tenía muchas ganas de hacer bien su trabajo. Cuando me invitó a ir al parque, y encima gratis, ni lo dudé. Saben lo que me gusta pasear y estar al aire libre. Mi unica duda era sobre el pronóstico: anunciaban una gran tormenta por la tarde, pero igual nos arriesgamos a ir y por el momento, el clima estaba bastante tranquilo 😅.
Since I haven't played any of these games in many years, I was a little nervous about how I would react to them. So much so that when I started watching all the games I got a little nervous: my tolerance for adrenaline isn't the best, but I also didn't want to be a chicken and not get on any of the big games. My friends started with everything, first getting on one of the most adrenaline games... the pendulum.
Como hace muchos años que no me subía a ninguno de estos juegos, estaba un poco nerviosa sobre como iba a reaccionar ante ellos. Tanto, que cuando empecé a ver todos los juegos me puse algo nerviosa: mi tolerancia a la adrenalina no es la mejor, pero tampoco quería ser una gallina y no subirme a ninguno de los juegos grandes. Mis amigos empezaron con todo, subiéndose en primer lugar a uno de los juegos más adrenalínicos... el péndulo.
The pendulum is a large wheel with a capacity for 30 people in which a large structure swings you at the same time that it rotates on its own axis. More than 30 meters tall, it is responsible for many of the screams heard in the park. In the first place, of course, I didn't get excited, but as the day progressed and the adrenaline built up in me, I closed my eyes and got on. And then I got on a second time 😅.
El péndulo es una gran rueda con capacidad para 30 personas en las que una gran estructura te balancea al mismo tiempo que gira sobre su propio eje. De más de 30 metros de alto, es la responsable de muchos de los gritos que se escuchan en el parque. En primer lugar yo por supuesto que no me animé, pero a medida que el día fue avanzando y la adrenalina se acumuló en mí, cerré los ojos y me subí. Y después me subí una segunda vez 😅.
But I wanted something a little more "soft" to start with and we chose to get on the rotating cups. Thinking that this would make us a little less dizzy, we were completely wrong. This game was one of those classified as children's but it still went quite fast. Or since it was the first one we got on, that's what we thought 😅.
Pero para empezar quería algo un poco más "suave" y elegimos subirnos a las tazas giratorias. Pensando que esto nos marearía un poco menos, estábamos completamente equivocados. Este juego era uno de los clasificados como infantiles pero igual iba bastante rápido. O como fue el primero al que nos subimos, eso fue lo que nos pareció 😅.
The good thing about having the Gold Pass is that we were able to get on almost all the rides: spinning octopus, pirate ship, little horror and mystery rides. Another great thing is that the park was not very crowded and we never had to stand in a long line to get on the rides. Perhaps the rain forecast scared off the visitors, but those of us who still risked going were rewarded with the possibility of taking advantage of everything without waiting too long ❤️.
Lo bueno de tener el Pase Oro es que pudimos subir a casi todos los juegos: pulpos giratorios, barco pirata, pequeños paseos de terror y misterio. Otra cosa genial es que el parque estaba poco concurrido y nunca tuvimos que hacer una gran fila para subir a las atracciones. Quizás el pronóstico de lluvia espantó a los visitantes, pero los que igual nos arriesgamos a ir fuimos recompensados con la posibilidad de aprovechar todo sin esperar demasiado ❤️.
But without a doubt the main attractions are the big roller coasters. This park has four roller coasters for all tastes: the lightest is called "El Vigia", a small brown roller coaster that gets into a mountain and goes around it twice. This is what you have to do if you don't like height and speed so much but still want to know what it is about 😃.
Pero sin dudas las atracciones principales son las montañas rusas grandes. Este parque cuenta con cuatro montañas rusas para todos los gustos: la más leve es la llamada "El Vigia", una pequeña montaña rusa marrón que se mete entre una montaña y da dos vueltas alredor de ella. Esta es la que tenes que hacer si no te gusta tanto la altura y la velocidad pero igual querés saber de qué se trata 😃.
The second mountain in level of adrenaline is called "El torbellino". This is a blue and yellow roller coaster where the cart is circular and rotates on its axis as the journey progresses. This was the only ride where we lined up quite a bit since the cart only holds 4 people, but the fun it was made it worth it 😃.
La segunda montaña en nivel de adrenalina se llama "El torbellino". Esta es una montaña rusa celeste y amarilla en donde el carrito es circular y va girando sobre su eje a medida que avanza el recorrido. Este fue el único juego en el que hicimos bastante fila ya que el carrito solo es para 4 personas, pero lo divertido que fue hizo que valiera la pena 😃.
And when it comes to the last two roller coasters there is a debate as to which one is thought to be the scariest. These two mountains are the most famous in the park and those chosen by lovers of adrenaline. They have been in the park since the beginning of the days and basically you cannot come here and not ride. Even if it is to confirm that it is something that you would not do again if you get so scared 😅.
Y cuando se trata de las últimas dos montañas rusas hay un debate entre cuál se cree que es la más terrorífica. Estas dos montañas son las más famosas del parque y las elegidas por los amantes de la adrenalina. Ellas estan desde el inicio de los tiempos del parque y básicamente no podes venir acá y no subirte. Aunque sea para confirmar que es algo que no volverías hacer si te llega a dar tant miedo 😅.
In my opinion, the one that takes second place is the green roller coaster. On this roller coaster, the seat hugs your chest and dangles your feet. During the tour you will be upside down several times, and you better have your shoes tied well if you don't want to lose them along the way 😅.
En mi opinión, la que se lleva el segundo lugar es la montaña rusa verde. En esta montaña rusa, el asiento te agarra el pecho y te deja los pies colgando. Durante el recorrido quedas de cabeza varias veces, y mejor que tengas las zapatillas bien atadas si no querés perderlas por el camino 😅.
And the first place as the worst roller coaster in the park is the red one (before it was all red, even the rails, but now only the cars are red). This mountain lifts you up to more than 30 meters high and then releases you to cross two loops where you remain on your head. Once at the other end, they lift you up again and release you to do the same route but in reverse. In total, all this is only 2 minutes but believe me that when you are up there they seem eternal 😅.
Y el primer lugar como la peor montaña rusa del parque es la roja (antes era toda roja, incluso los rieles, pero ahora solo quedaron rojos los carritos). Esta montaña te eleva hasta más de 30 metros de altura y luego te suelta para atravesar dos rulos en donde quedás de cabeza. Una vez el en el otro extremo, te elevan de nuevo y te sueltan para hacer el mismo recorrido pero en reversa. En total, todo esto son solo 2 minutos pero creanme que cuando estas ahí arriba parecen eternos 😅.
We climbed these mountains one after the other, and each time we were charging more and more adrenaline. It was very crazy to see how your body was asking for more and more emotion, and doing the games gradually is a good strategy to encourage yourself to try them all. The last game that we have left pending is called "Exorbitant", a large structure that rotates and lifts you at the same time that it rotates on its own axis. I swear that I already had enough courage to encourage me to go up, but no one else wanted to accompany me and they intimidated me 😅.
A estas montañas nos subimos una tras otra, y cada vez nos ibamos cargando más y más de adrenalina. Fue muy loco ver como el cuerpo te pedía cada vez más emoción, y hacer los juegos de manera gradual es una buena estrategia para animarse a probarlos a todos. El último juego que nos quedó pendiente se llama "Desorbitados", una gran estructura que gira y te eleva al mismo tiempo que gira sobre su propio eje. Juro que yo ya tenía la valentía suficiente para animarme a subir, pero nadie más quizo acompañarme y me acobardaron 😅.
And when we thought that the rain had finally stopped, in less than 15 minutes a big storm broke out that cut the fun short (only for 20 minutes). This pause forced us to go to lunch, because it was already around 4 PM and we were starving. We were also delaying lunch so as not to load our stomachs while doing all those laps, but the water forced us to stop 😅.
Y cuando pensamos que la lluvia finalmente había destitido, en menos de 15 minutos se desató una gran tormenta que cortó la diversión (solo por 20 minutos). Esta pausa nos obligó a ir a almorzar, porque ya eran como las 4 PM y moríamos de hambre. También estábamos retrasando el almuerzo para no cargar nuestro estómago al mismo tiempo que dábamos todas esas vueltas, pero el agua nos obligó a detenernos 😅.
Luckily the rain did not last long and we were able to continue with our day of games. The good thing about Parque de La Costa is that if you pay the entrance fee and it rains during the afternoon, up to an hour before the park closes, they will refund your entrance fee so that you can return another time, so if it rained too much, we were saved by it 😅.
Por suerte la lluvia duró poco y pudimos continuar con nuestra jornada de juegos. Lo bueno que tiene el Parque de La Costa es que si pagas la entrada y llueve durante la tarde, hasta una hora antes del cierre del parque, ellos te devuelven la entrada para que puedas volver en otra oportunidad, así que si llovía demasiado, estábamos salvados por eso 😅.
To close our day of super-adrenaline, we chose the quietest ride in the park and it is the "Around the World", or Wheel of Fortune, whatever they call it in your area. This walk is very quiet and for the whole family. The wheel, over 30 meters high, slowly lifts you up and from it you can have a panoramic view of the entire river and the park. We just had to go up at sunset, so we could see the sunset from there and it was incredible ❤️.
Para cerrar nuestro día de super-adrenalina, elegimos el paseo más tranquilo del parque y es la "Vuelta al Mundo", o Rueda de la Fortuna, como sea que la llamen en tu área. Este paseo es muy tranquilo y para toda la familia. La rueda de más de 30 metros de altura te eleva lentamente y desde él se puede tener una vista panorámica de todo el río y el parque. Justo nos tocó subir en el atardecer, así que pudimos ver la puesta de sol desde ahi y fue increíble ❤️.
Spending this day with friends was incredible and the fact that the entrance was free was even more so. I felt that I had to take advantage of it and that's why I got on all the games, as if to honor my gift. Who knows when I go again, maybe a few years will pass again so I had to make the most of it. This is also one of the places that I recommend to take a walk if you are visiting Buenos Aires and you like this type of games. At least once in your life you have to visit Parque de La Costa, and as far as possible, come back to continue having fun 😃.
Pasar estte día con amigos fue increíble y que la entrada halla sido gratis lo fue aún más. Yo sentía que tenía que aprovecharlo y por eso me subí a todos los juegos, como para honrrar mi regalo. Quién sabe cuando vuelva a ir, quizás vuelvan a pasar algunos años así que tenía que aprovecharlo bien. Este también es uno de los lugares que recomiendo para pasear si estan de visita en Buenos Aires y te gustan este tipo de juegos. Al menos una vez en la vida hay que visitar el Parque de La Costa, y en la medida de lo posible, volver para seguir divirtiéndose 😃.
