Last week out of nowhere, my friends texts me “Hey bro! We are heading up to Aurora this weekend you coming or what?!” i had been doing nothing but work and stay home for weeks so i was like “WOW YES count me in!” Before this we always got around on motorcycles everyone had their own bike but this time our friend Mike just got a brand new car so he said he had drive all of us.
I was so happy to just be a passenger for once you know? No need to check if I have ga no need to worry about balancing on bumpy roads just sit back and relax! We left Friday night actually because we wanted to beat the traffic. I slept a bit on the way but when I woke up the next morning, we were already in Aurora.
The roads here are way nicer than in the city smooth asphalt and you can see green fields on both sides plus some mountains in the distance. The air smells different too so fresh and clean not like the usual smoke and jeepney fumes we are used to. But when we got to Dipaculao that’s when things got really amazing.
We were driving along this road that seemed pretty normal then Mike turns the wheel and we go up a little slope… and BOOM! There were all these huge grassy hills stretching out everywhere! Like imagine those movies with big green fields in other countries but this is right here in our own country!
The grass was so thick and bright green and in some parts you could see reddish-brown dirt peeking through the way the colors mix together is just perfect. We all started shouting “Stop stop stop!” so Mike pulled over at this empty spot by the side of the road. When we got out it was so quiet I could hear birds chirping and the wind rustling through the grass.
And then we looked further ahead and there’s the SEA! The water was this deep blue color, and you could see waves crashing on the shore even from where we were standiing. The hills just kind of roll down all the way to the beach it looked like something you had see on Instagram but way better in person. My friends said this area is close to Dinadiawan River but there were no big signs or anything felt like we found some hidden spot that only locals know about.
We spent almost two hours there taking a million photos of course walking around barefoot on the grass because it felt so soft and just sitting on one of the hills talking about random stuff. Even Mike who was tired from driving was just sitting there with his mouth open looking at everything. When we finally got back in the car to head to our resort none of us could stop talking about it.
I’m so thankful my barkada invited me along being a passenger meant I could just look out the window and take everything in without stress. Finding that amazing place in Dipaculao made the whole long drive totaly worth it. It really makes you realize how many awesome spots we have here in the Philippines you just gotta get out of your usual hangouts and go check them out!
