There is some good news but also bad news that I have lately. First the good news, I’ll be moving to my own home office soon.
About a week ago, I was suddenly falling ill . Fast forward it gets even more depressing once a week hits and I haven’t fully recovered even now but let’s say that I am also happy, Christmas is near!
And... I’ll be handling a branch of my family business in the area which focuses on consulting firm.
Then, my dream to start Harvest Moon life is going to be exciting.
I have a new house to layout, a plot to start my mini garden and farming. It even comes with chicken coop as well in the back of the house.
My grandma showed me a huge land behind the main house that I could even have a fish pond again and start farming. It’s such a dream come true to me and a mark of a new chapter in my life. While this might be a humble home office, this will be a space that I could use to introduce and educate people about Hive as well as to organize offline book club gatherings in the area.
This space is going to be re-opened as a home to our public reading center/library in this region.
We already have one that I talked about back during my talk on hive fest but this one is another branch of it that I’ll be fully managing and is my own.
2026 is going to be a busy year for me. I am also going back to school, picking up where I left off so I can finally do my PhD!
Ever since coming back from Hivefest, I am just so full of inspiration and jest to life. It’s also why I decided to fully immerse myself with my family business again. While I definitely haven’t seen the fruit of my labor in terms of money, at least, I’ve made some connections along the way.
I am still treated as a new employee as I am restarting my life with them. But starting next year, I am resuming a new life and role in life 😊
The people I met recently are so well-educated including my siblings that it inspired me to go back to school and even have a higher education than my own mother. She finished her Doctorate when she’s 59 and she still wants to study and has a constant thirst for knowledge. She inspired me that education knows no age and we should pursue it.
As the only least educated one in the family, I feel like I have so much catching up to do. We’re a family of engineers and lawyers but I am the odd one out 😅 who ventured on my own too far and only now, going back to the family route again.
I got so moved seeing the work we did in Papua and what they were all capable of doing, with their degree, connection, and money 😂. That motivated me that I too could be like them, I just took the weird route.
It’s why recently I haven’t been here that often, I am busy handling the family business, the projects I got involved in and preparing for the new home office I am about to move into.
Somehow, with this family I never have to explain why I don’t just see profit but stewardship, I don’t have to explain the value of community, legacy and even education to them. They all get it and we’re speaking the same language.
Work to them is more than just money and this concept is something that my adoptive family couldn’t understand. Sure, we all need money but there’s more to it.
This time with them, my dreams won’t just be dreams. I realized living in South East Asia, the magic that we all need is connection. Without having a proper connection, it’s hard to move mountains around here. My biological family has it, a magic key to thrive around here.
And this time, I am playing their game while quietly carrying my own rules in it too. So, who knows where I’ll be next year!
Anyhow, see you in my next Eastbound Journey or you can read some of it here :

By the way, this was one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on this year regarding to Hive awareness in Indonesian (Sept–Feb 2024–2025). You can learn how I managed it here :
