There are days, weeks, or months that can feel very routine, but I like to think that we all have something we look forward to for days on end, just hoping it will come soon. For me personally, when rap battle events take place where I live, those are the days I look forward to especially when it’s a major event that draws people from all over. And this is what my day at a rap event was like; I hope you enjoy it.
Hay días, semanas o meses que pueden ser muy rutinarios, pero me gusta pensar que todos tenemos alguna actividad por la cual esperamos bastantes días con solo la ilusión de que llegue pronto y, personalmente, para mí, cuando se realizan eventos de batallas de rap donde vivo, es uno de esos días, más cuando es un evento importante donde vienen personas de distintos lugares. Y esto fue lo que fue mi día en un evento de rap; espero que lo disfruten.
When the day of the event arrived, I asked my friend Mariale (who also loves rap battles) if she wanted to come with me; even though she already had plans, she decided to go with me, and I have to say it was several hours of fun, laughter, entertainment, and lots of excitement over the rhymes being exchanged. The most striking thing about these kinds of events is usually the rhymes and the incredible creativity the participants bring to the table, and I’d say that’s what makes it so impressive.
Llegado el día del evento, le pregunté a mi amiga Mariale (también le gustan las batallas) si quería acompañarme; a pesar de que ya ella tenía planes, decidió ir conmigo y debo decir que fueron varias horas de diversión, risas, entretenimiento y mucha celebración por las rimas que se llevaban a cabo. Lo más llamativo de este tipo de eventos suelen ser las rimas, la gran creatividad que suelen tener los participantes y diría que eso lo hace más impresionante.
As I said before, it lasted several hours, from the afternoon until nightfall; I think there are few occasions when I stay until the end of the event mostly because I’m alone and end up getting bored, but since I was with my friend Mariale, she decided to stay until it was over, and I have to say it was the best decision.
Como dije antes, fueron varias horas, desde la tarde hasta el anochecer; creo que son pocas las ocasiones en que me quedo hasta finalizar el evento, la mayoría de veces porque ando solo y me termino aburriendo, pero como andaba con mi amiga Mariale, ella se animó a quedarse hasta que finalizó y debo decir que fue la mejor decisión.
After that, on my way back, I came across a cute little kitten outside a bakery. It’s really nice when cats aren’t afraid of people but try to interact with you, and this one, while I was taking some pictures of it, started meowing for me to pet it—and that’s exactly what I did; I really can’t resist cats. It’s funny, many years ago, I wasn’t much of a cat person; life can be very ironic.
Luego de eso, de regreso, me encontré con un lindo gatito fuera de una panadería. Es bastante lindo cuando los gatos no se asustan de las personas, sino que intentan interactuar con uno y en este, mientras le hacía algunas fotografías, empezó a maullar para que le hiciera cariño y efectivamente fue lo que hice; realmente no puedo resistirme a los gatos. Es curioso, hace muchos años no era tan amante de los gatos; la vida suele ser muy irónica.
I ended up going to a fast-food place; I wanted to get something to take home and eat with my family. I decided on some burgers; they’re always a good choice, especially at night when you don’t feel like cooking. The nice thing was that, inside the restaurant, there was a guest artist who was painting a portrait of Michael Jackson; she’s undoubtedly very talented, and not only that, there were other paintings by different artists hanging in the restaurant, and clearly they had all been painted by her.
Terminé yendo a un local de comida rápida; quería comprar algo para llevar a mi casa y comer con mi familia. La elección fueron unas hamburguesas; siempre vienen bien y más cuando es de noche y no tienes muchas ganas de cocinar. Lo lindo es que, dentro del local, había una artista invitada que se encontraba realizando un cuadro de Michael Jackson; sin duda, tiene mucho talento y no solo eso, había otros cuadros de distintos artistas que también se encontraban colgados en el local y evidentemente todos habían sido pintados por ella.
