In Spanish, the intention was to play with words, so the title of this post would be El Caso AKASO. However, in translation, we sometimes lose the intention—a bad thing. So much intention is thrown down the drain... 😕 These are some of the communication potholes we often face in everyday life. Come on, English-speaking friends, try reading that in Spanish. But I'm here for several reasons, and not to dwell on communication breakdowns; although you will see potholes, there's one obvious reason: I'm here to show you a little bit of my afternoon on wheels, and how satisfactory my amazing AKASO Brave 4 is, a little gem that truly does with decorum its job of documenting (you know) the action. 😁
This time, I placed the camera on the helmet and here in the video, I didn't make any colour corrections, nor did I try to stabilize the image. So, it's a raw video. 😃
Maybe it was a bit loose. I used some bands to attach it to the helmet but didn't tighten it enough. There is one thing you can notice in the footage, and that is the amount of bumps in the road, no matter how much I fix it, I think there will always be jumps.
It's just that something happened that I didn't tell you about. It turns out that the package that my AKASO came in didn't include the extra brackets that I ordered with it: a chest strap and a wrist strap. I have already contacted Aeroenvío support and they told me that in less than 15 days I should receive the missing items. The thing is that it was a separate package that was delivered later. And nothing... I am still learning how to use all the supports that this little camera comes with. There are a lot of them. So far I've only used two.
This was the post I wrote when I received the camera... I had intended to do an unboxing and so I didn't realise that things were missing until I decided not to unbox it and opened the box to find all those little things and scream at the absence of.... you know. 😟
In my previous post I shot at night and in extremely dark conditions. Still, my little AKASO did well. The one who didn't know how to position it was me. Anyway, I tried to do something with some fragments of the recordings. I hope you like it. 😉
Let's talk about this little tour I recorded for you.
I chose this stretch from the Parque de la Ceguera, which is in front of the Ramón Pando Ferrer Ophthalmology Institute in Marianao, I joined at 31st Avenue and went down 70th Street to 5th Avenue. You'll see how picturesque the atmosphere and the cars are and that the city is also dangerous for cycling, but that doesn't stop me. It's very nice going down 70, down the hill... hey, you have to be careful, and even if you have the right of way, keep an eye on the intersections in case you have to brake suddenly. This, without counting the potholes... they are almost a portal for time travellers. Well, it's a romantic idea, if you fall into one at high speed, you can lose your teeth.
...knock on wood... 😶
Then the return is the real workout because you have to climb the hill. I sweated a lot, I can assure you, and it's very good for the muscles as well as a great cardio workout.
My mission was to meet Nany, the friend who told me a few days ago about an ice cream parlour in the Comodoro Hotel, which I didn't find in the end. Well, today we had ice cream there.
My friend wanted to know about Hive, so I've been telling her a bit about it, we'll see if she's up for it and joins us.

We walked from that Hotel catching up on our lives to another Hotel where we decided... to continue tasting sweet things.
🤤 My chocolate cake with cream was tangerine-flavoured too - yum! And hers was a tangerine éclair. We also ordered coffee.
{Te como, te como... 😁}
I accompanied her to the Miramar Business Centre where she works to pick up her things, as it was time to go home. And there I had a meeting with...
No, wait... I mistook the photo.
They are inflated metal sculptures by the artist José Emilio Fuentes Fonseca (JEFF), which were exhibited in different places in Havana until they (apparently) found their space here.
And here we just walked a bit down 5th Avenue to 70th so she could catch a ride home.
I had the opportunity, while we were walking, to photograph this work, which is part of a group of 10 that the sculptor Kcho placed in different parts of the city. But to talk about this and the connotations of this one in particular I think it deserves a post.
In the background, you can see another Hotel, the Memories Miramar.
To conclude, I would like to dedicate these two photos to someone who feels very identified with this animal. 😄 I hope you don't miss this...
There are 15 minutes left until the end of Thursday, 22 August, here in Havana, and the video is 85% uploaded... tic, tac, tic, tac...
Friday 00:01 - pushing the publish button.
