Welcome to one more show above ground. One more day of our twelve year hero’s journey.

How is everyone doing these days? One of the wacko prognosticators we have been monitoring for over a decade now predicted that this decade would be the “soaring twenties.” So far it’s been the “warring twenties.” Indeed, the entire century, thus far, has been embroiled in a gumbo of nefarious negativity. No need to remind anyone who has lived through it.

The earlier one was hatched in the last century, the more difficult it is to recognize the world today. In the late 1950’s there was this project called the International Geophysical Year, (IGY). It was supposed to usher in a new age of benefits born of scientific discovery through the cooperation of 67 participating countries. This project led to the Antarctic Treaty of 1959. We all see how that turned out. Antarctica has been off-limits and immersed in secrecy ever since.

We were supposed to have flying cars in this century. What we have is electric scooters (for rent), delivery robots that can’t cross the street on their own, and a country full of cyber-zombies ruled by algorithms, lied to by their governments, via government controlled mass media, curated social media and sixty-second superstars.

Nonetheless, my friends, We persist. It’s become a strategy not to move through time as if we were leaves blowing in the wind. We move with vital intention. We make plans. Plan strategies. Execute decisively. We adjust as necessary. We remain simultaneously aware of situations yet detached from their outcomes. We use various types of metaphors to convey these concepts to the population. We look ahead one year. Seven years. Twelve years.

Today’s audio lays out why we plan in twelve year chunks. The video hints at what’s ahead for the Full Metal Ox in the next Ox year. Until then.

“The Secret of the Twelve Year Plan”
Did you know that there are 24 divisors in 360? 360 degrees in a circle. Why? There are 24 hours in a day. Coincidence? Twelve months in the western monthly zodiac. Did you know that there’s an hourly zodiac? In Chinese astrology the zodiac is divided into 12 years. There are 5 elements associated with animal-sign. It takes sixty years from the day you are born, let’s say in a Fire Horse year, to return to a Fire Horse year. 60 years. 60 minutes. Sixty seconds. Did you know that you can count to sixty using one hand? 60 is ten times the first perfect number, 6. Square 6 to 36 and multiply by 10 and you get 360. 360 degrees in a circle. Why? Because of the math. It works every time. There’s no theory to it. It’s law. Where the ancients went wrong was believing that they could apply this theory to “real” astrological motion. 360 degree in a cirlce should work perfectly for the orbit of the Earth. Didn’t work out so well. Maybe because the Earth wobbles. Maybe because the Earth took a hit, lost a chunk from its side and has been wobbling ever since.

This is why your humble vagabond started creating 12 year plans.
Because the Earth wobbles?
Oh no. Not that. Because of the Chinese zodiac. Its twelve year cycle. We plan from Ox Year to Ox Year. We started our video series, Full Metal Ox, (get it?), in the last year of the Metal Ox, 2021. Back then we issued two main challenges. First, to survive until the next Ox Year. 2033 will be the yer of the Water Ox. Second, but not as critical as number one, to create and publish a video everyday of the journey. Today is day 1,833. We are not even half way there yet.

We picture this saga as a literal journey with all the pitfalls, detours, challenges, successes, apocalypses, elevations, corrections, opportunities, new and renovated experiences & lessons that accompany an extended expedition. A “Hero’s Journey.”

I learned somewhere, before we started this leg of the journey, that stories, like “The Alchemist,” on which the concept is loosely based, are allegory about the Sun’s annual passage through the constellations. It begins with its birth in Capricorn. Each astrological sign has its own symbolism. For example, Pisces, can be viewed as youthful optimism, when we believe what we are taught what to believe. “The sky’s the limit. If you work hard and “be good” you will be successful. Followed by the “I Am” – self-discovery of Aries, usually around age 14, (a seven year, by the way). Scorpio is the sign of crisis, transformation and betrayal. Think, Cipher, in the Matrix. In fact you can chart every zodiacal allegory through the Matrix. The partnership, beginning to catch feelings for Trinity, in Libra. Back to Capricorn – Death & Rebirth. But the rebirth is not like basic reincarnation. It’s at a higher level. The hero returns “home” but he’s not the same character. Robert De Niro, in The Deer Hunter, after his tour in Vietnam.

The first known adventure story ever written, The Epic of Gilgamesh, can be charted parallel to the Sun’s journey through the constellations.

This is why we make 12 year plans. We collect what is useful at the time and discard it when it becomes a burden, or is proven false and or detrimental. Not just material junk, but information, techniques, “influencers,” information agents, and a combination of skills & ideas. We are always looking ahead. What is the next year going to bring? What is our theme going to be? Our annual affirmation? What can we do to subtly improve or accentuate the beings of those we encounter without coming off like some know-it-all, “red-pill,” savior?

We are not as bound to the symbology of the epics of yore. But somehow, looking through the rear-view mirror of life, we could probably fashion an Alchemist-style adventure. (No spoilers.)

We are imagining what we will be doing in the Water Ox year. We are slowly speaking it into existence. This is why we started a paid-side to our Substack presence. We will be hyping it and leaking titillating tales from time to time to lure the curious behind the silk curtain. But that’s an epic for another time. Today is about today. This text. This episode. This thought. This existence.
