The Noxsoma Chronicles [0120]
01-18-2026 … Day 23700 (Sunday Funday)
Every day, or so it seems these tired eyes read a headline that claims some inanimate, or nebulous object has “memory.” This one said, “The walls have memory.” That used to be one of those poetic lines that sounded deep. Now it sounds cliché. How does one, or in this case many, reduce a “deep thought” to a trite cliché? By running it into the ground of course.
This is what humans do. We are not surprised.
When the quantum field collapses, it collapses into memory. I want to put quotes around this but I don’t know if it’s was actually written, or some skewed “memory” I have.
Most humans don’t know what the hell they are talking about. [Must I even bother including my Self in this group?] They just say shit. And there is usually nothing behind it. But don’t stop talking. Why?
Because sometimes when you have been mindlessly repeating some aphorism that maybe you picked up in school from a teacher who heard his teacher say it – you come across someone who might ask you, inquisitively – do you know where that comes from? And you might learn something you didn’t know. [Disclaimer: the messenger might be incorrect, so do your own research.]
Day Three: The Comeback
The left side gives us a false sense of security. We are okay now. I reset occurred this afternoon. The snot stopped dripping and the sinuses cleared out. As expected. Although we are always a little leery about expecting.
Yesterday was challenging. We fasted. Sort of. No meals. Just handfuls of peanuts and a stick of cheese now and then. Many cups of tea, even cloves, ginger and honey. Vitamin C in 1000, sometimes 2000 mg pops and NAC. Many naps and many hot showers and hot compresses on my face. We slept so much yesterday – on our left side – that we were certain we would be up all night. We were not. Got into bed early. Slept on the left and were knocked out for hours. Woke up and rolled over to the right side. Stuffy, runny nose and of course trouble breathing. We flipped back to the left but too late. We couldn’t get back in position.
Hot shower. The water here gets very hot! Steamy. Like steam room steamy. Back to bed. No dice.
It’s 4-ish. What the hell. Let’s say it’s 4:20. We get up. Feeling a bit better. Let’s move. We grab the stick, lay it across the trapz and twist. Exhausting. We flail the arms like in the tai chi ads. Even more exhausting. We lie down on the sofa. Left side.
It’s always the left side. In case you missed yesterday’s Transmission, we noticed some time ago that our sinuses clear up when we lay on the left side.
We asked the Chat-Bot why this might be. Here’s what we got. (The “best” two out of four.)
The Gravity Theory (Most Accepted Explanation)
This is the core concept. When you're upright, mucus must drain "uphill" against gravity. When you lie down, gravity's effect changes relative to your anatomy.
• Lying on your LEFT side: For most people, the nasal septum (the wall dividing the nostrils) is not perfectly straight. It often deviates slightly. A common anatomical pattern is a deviated septum to the left, which makes the right nasal passage more spacious. When you lie on your left side, blood pools slightly in the dependent (right) nasal turbinates due to gravity, causing that side to feel more congested. This may redirect airflow and pressure to your left, "upper" nasal passage, helping to open and drain the sinuses on that side. Essentially, you're using gravity to "decongest" the upper side.
The Lymphatic System Hypothesis
This is a more recent and fascinating area of discussion. Some researchers and ENT specialists propose that body position affects the lymphatic drainage of the head and neck.
• The thoracic duct, the body's main lymphatic vessel, drains into the venous system on the left side (at the junction of the left internal jugular and subclavian veins).
• The theory suggests that lying on the left side may improve the efficiency of this major drainage pathway, potentially reducing lymphatic congestion in the head and neck region, including around the sinuses. While more research is needed, it's a compelling physiological explanation.
Back to the sofa. We were out in no time. I couldn't tell from the angle, but I felt like the vessel was in an awkward position, albeit the exact right position we needed to be in. Many … about 3 hours later we were up.
More tea.
We declared that we would make chicken soup today. And we did.
The appetite returned signaling that metabolism was just about finished its task. We cooked. We ate. We slept. Maybe 4 hours this time.
Meanwhile – out in the environment it rained – several times and very hard and heavy. I knew last night that I wouldn’t be making the gym today. The rain made me feel better about not going. We still got our 100 biceps curls in. We are at 50 so far today. We will knock out the balance before we close business.
I think doctors call this a “head cold.”
Once Upon a Time in Spain
I met this woman when I was teaching English in Spain. She was a DJ. I should say she “is” a DJ. She was already very popular back then. She’s even more popular now. She’s one of those fist-pump knob-twisting performers whose “music” I don’t really dig. But what the heck. Just for kicks I followed her on social media. I listened to some of her mixes but never lasted more than five minutes.
Anyway, it’s been about eight years. Suddenly she’s showing up at the top of my feed – like daily! In hospital. I am wondering what the hell happened!! Despite learning English, she still speaks Spanish with English translations on SM. The English moves too fast for these eyes to follow.
Then, I had not seen any posts for two days. I could tell. [Well it wasn’t me, it was Universe.] We could tell that it was worse than she was sharing. Since there were no posts for two days I did a search. Since she’s a “public figure” we got the scoop.
Today she got the diagnosis. And posted it. “Cancer.” We put her on our spiritual healing list a few days ago. But the “vibe” doesn’t feel positive.
We don’t do “breaking news” here – as you know. It’s only because we spent time together that I even bother to mention it. We are going to continue to send the healing vibes nonetheless. If my math is correct, she has a daughter who should be close to twenty by now.
It’s time for another dose of Jewish penicillin. That’s what Jewish people call “chicken soup.” I like it spicy, so it opens the blood vessels and everything else in the body. This helps the toxicity get out.
True Magic
In ancient times “magic” was synonymous with “wisdom.” Wisdom was power -- primarily because 90+% of the general population, also known as the “profane” and “vulgar,” only knew what they needed to survive – raise pigs, plough farms, hunt, forage, etc. Magicians could, for example “cure” what peasants believed was a fatal dis-ease. And were thus revered. This is how the word became associated with greatness. “Magus.” “Majesty.” “Magnum opus” (great work). “Magnanimous” (great-hearted or generous). Somewhere along the timeline “magic” was co-opted by tricksters and illusionists. The “magicians” mentioned in scripture were not referring to David Copperfield, but to wise men like the “maji” that visited the baby Jesus.
Why am I even bringing this up? Because it was in Mind. Not quite daily, but often enough, We learn that a word we’d grown up with does not mean what we were taught it meant. A little less ignorance is a good thing.
Prognostication
The schnoz is getting stuffy again as we head into the cool darkness of this South Florida Sunday. We finished the soup. Appetite is good. The watered down mix will make the food easier to digest. More tea before bed. Hot shower. Lay on the left side and see what tomorrow feels like.
