Quadrillion Exponents
Come on into the Mind Cafe. Sit down. Have a cuppa tea—unless coffee is your bag. Get it?
I made a note yesterday to write about exponents and how quickly we can go from 1 to a quadrillion. That’s what our challenge is about. But not just counting. Feeling and associating these numbers with units. That’s called measurement. You can also learn to read 9, 10, 11, 15 digit numbers, even though you couldn’t count that high, by ones, in a lifetime. But these numbers exist and the only thing they are used for is (theoretically) counting stars and counting debt. I almost wrote “money” but that much money doesn’t exist. Money itself, arguably doesn’t exist, although I just metaphorically exchanged some “money” for footwear.
Speaking of Numbers
I read this piece today about the numbers 3,6 & 9, and something called “vortex math.” I won’t bore you with the names humans have put to these patterns. You may already know, speaking of exponents, that you can double numbers into infinity and they will never, ever, return to 3,6 or 9.
Whachu talkin’ ‘bout Willis?
If you already know, skip this paragraph. Base numbers are 1 to 9. They don’t mean anything but the value they represent. When you have a value of 8491, you add the string 8+4+9+1=22, then 2+2=4. You keep adding the string of numbers until you get down to a single digit. It will never be zero (0), because zero isn’t a number. It’s literally a place holder. You can use anything, the world just eventually agreed on zero.
Start with 1, and let’s double it ten times, because I just happen to have a chart to hand. (Once again, this is for people who don’t already know this.)
1,2,4,8 – (all single digits) – 16-32-64 – (double digits) 128-256-512 (triple digits)
Now the math. 1+6=7, 3+2=5, 6+4=10, 1+0=1 (this is how we get back to 1.)
1+2+8=11 (2), 2+5+6=13 (4), 5+1+2=8
Do you see the pattern?
1,2,4,8,7,5,1,2,4,8 the next two will return to 7 & 5 guaranteed.
This pattern goes on like this forever. I am reasonably certain of this, although I haven’t done it forever, I have certainly done it far enough out to be just short of forever. If you want to try an experiment, as your AI to calculate 2 to the 53d power, then add all of the numbers together.
If this is not your bag, you may be excused. We’re not doing any more math. We’re going to explore the folks who conflate math with numerology in an attempt to open up some mystic portal to self actualization. Before you check out, notice that this pattern does not include 3,6, or 9. Why? It just doesn’t. Numbers don’t have personalities. 3,6,&9 weren’t excluded because they are “evil” numbers or “beneficent” numbers. Numbers adhere to specific and immutable patterns and because of this, they represent the primary truth in the Universe. Every pattern repeats that same way every time in every column; 1 to 9, then 10, and the pattern repeats, the same way for ever. It’s boring but you can count on it, in every pattern, in every language, with every symbol. If we replaced all of these symbols (numerals) with other symbols, the patterns would still work the same way.
One final example – every multiple of 9 will return to 9. All ways.
Numerology
The numerologists associate numbers with whatever they want them to represent. 9 is the number of completion. Well sure. It comes at the end of the basic pattern. DUH! But what does that mean to you? That’s the only digit I know. But the numerologists, (just speaking generally) have assigned “11” to be a power number of some kind. Where did this come from? Is it assigned to a frequency? If so which one?
If you watch the Full Metal Ox series, you know that I’ve got my own biases towards numbers. I don’t have anything against any of the nine digits, but I tell you what 7, is my “sacred” number. Maybe because it’s the oddball of the club. 9 is definitely a magic number, but not only for the reason mentioned above, (or maybe that is its best characteristic.)
Six is much more than double 3, it’s the first and lowest perfect number and the only perfect number that doesn’t return to 1. Which brings us to 1. It starts every pattern. Why wouldn’t it. If you wanted to be a smart-ass and start with 2, you must still acknowledge that it’s 2 ones. There’s no (whole) number lower and even when you split it you get One half.
The one and only thing numbers have going for them – I almost want to hedge with, “IMHO” – is mathematics, which is nothing more than how these numbers relate to each other when the music plays. That music is the formula they are affected by. That’s the magic. The mysticism is made up.
But guess what. Often, when you use numbers in a mystical way, and you want good fortune to come your way, it works! Why?
It works because whatever you set your intention to will take you there.
If a mystic told you to recite the alphabet backwards everyday for 3 weeks, while focusing your intention on your goal, you will reach your goal, or at the very least move closer to your goal. And as an extra bonus, you might get pulled over, suspected of being drunk, and asked to recite the alphabet backwards as a test.
Modern Mystics
Modern mystics and seekers and gurus are looking for ways to cure, reverse, improve, or in someway alter their situation, so they look for “tools.” Everything is up for grabs; gym, tarot, Tupperware parties, drum circles, freak offs, numerology… the sky’s the limit. Some of successful and others are extremely successful. Why?
Often, the success doesn’t have anything to do with the tools, but it has everything to do with the tools.
You could deal out a deck of tarot cards, and interpret them as guiding you to do something your heart has been telling you that you needed to do or stop doing for many years. Let’s say it’s an addiction. Not devastating. Something you want to give up. Mr. Jones (the craving) shows up. You have decided, because some tool, or coach told you to, count backwards from 100, by 7s. While you’re focusing on that task, the craving has subsided, and something else has come along to occupy your attention and in-tention.
That’s how this stuff works.
Why did I walk into the kitchen? Those moments of forgetfulness that keep you from doing something that will do you no good.
If you can use numbers for math or for numerology and you get the results you desire, then it’s all good in the hood.
Catch you tomorrow.
By the way 2 to the 53d power is 9,007,199,254,740,992, the sum of this string is 77, 7+7=14, 1+4=5
