Welcome to Browntown
The Night of … 1620
A topic just flew in and right out of Mind.
One of the tricks in our writing exercise is to keep those personal pronouns out of the text. So so difficult because We’ve been inculcated with “I’s” and “My’s.” It doesn’t sound right, even as it echoes in Mind, when we use – what is it called? – the second person singular? Who makes this shyt up? But We’re going to keep it up and by the end of the decade we’ll sound like Queen Victoria, “We are not amused.”
Heck, We’re even phasing the word “person” out of our lexicon. Once We dis-covered, or learned what the origin of the word is. It doesn’t even have anything to do with the “human.” “Per” means through, and “son” means sound. (Sonic & so on.) The person is the mask worn by actors. There’s a little kind of speaker in the mask that amplifies the voice so that the audience can hear the dialog.
When and how did language identify humans with microphones & “speakers”? (Ha ha, “speakers.”)
In the opinion of your humble scribe, the English language needs a complete overhaul, (including the grossly inefficient alpha-beta, which we could call the alpha-omega, or “alphameg” which would imply that there are more than just two letters in the panoglyph.) But that’s not likely to happen. If we (humans) knew what was actually being said and meant, it would take us closer to discernment and subsequently freedom; at least linguistically.
Anyway -
The Global South has risen in Eastern Delaware County.
I knew a group of cats at U-Penn that called themselves the Browntown Posse. Cool dudes, South Asian, mostly Indian origin. Tech kids. They are all grown now with families and living far from the Philly area.
“Philadelphia’s a good place to be from. Far from.” CHO 2
The border boroughs and moving west, away from Philadelphia has become Browntown. The rise of the Global South is stamped on the sign posts. A street called Bangladesh, a market “Coming Soon” called Al-Aqsa, as well as the established Latino, (South American) markets, and Southeast Asian restaurants.
Here’s the twist – just about 50 years ago, and certainly 80 years ago, this area was all “White.” Working class European immigrant Whites, with some professionals. The homes out there were designed so doctors could practice their craft without leaving their homes. This wasn’t unique to Upper Darby and environs, it was like this in West Philly as well. There are still some doctors’ offices in single family properties.
We did an episode called “Fear of A Brown Planet” (ruffled a few feathers with that one). Which actually proved the point.
There may even be a handful of eyes right now reading this and wondering whether the author is celebrating the change or decrying it.
Neither. Just covering it.
And – observing parallels between what I can see happening in Upper Darby, and what I’m hearing about places I have no access to.
The last time We were in Spain was 2019. All over Spain. Several cities not on the tourist map. In every city there are Bazaars, that the locals call “Chinos” because they are owned, (at least it seems so), by Chinese.” There are small restaurants, and kebab spots on main streets that are South Asian operated; Bangladeshi, or Pakistani mainly. Families run these places, and it’s the same here in Philly, but mostly it’s smaller businesses. Grocers mostly. We know because we shop there. (And take some stuff back to Miami with us.)
Eastern Delco is also populated with the African diaspora, West Indians, Filipinos and of course African Americans, and some White folk who’ve been there for generations and maybe some new jacks too. Most of the White folk I see when I’m out and about are on the Main Line, which is Montgomery county, but that area is changing too.
So here’s a quick demographic abstract of Upper Darby based on race/ethnicity. Then I’ll let it go.
White (Non-Hispanic): ~35-40%
• Black or African American: ~30-35%
• Asian: ~15-20% (including large Nepali, Indian, Korean, and Chinese communities)
• Hispanic or Latino: ~10-15% (primarily Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Mexican)
• Other/Mixed Race: ~5-10%
Here’s what America looks like as of 2020 (Census) but it’s already changed significantly.
White (Non-Hispanic) 57.8%
Hispanic or Latino 18.9% (largest minority group)
Black or African American 12.1%
Asian 6.1% (fastest-growing group)
Two or More Races 4.1%
Native American/Alaska Native 0.7%
Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander 0.2%
• Key Trend: The U.S. is becoming more diverse, with projections that non-Hispanic Whites will be a minority by ~2045.
The key trend, is significant, if you can believe it. There are stats and then there’s what we see with our own eyes. But even our eyes don’t tell the whole story.
I like the way this “Non-Hispanic Whites” group is described. “THEY” are hinting at what’s going on. If you know the story about “How the Irish Became White” you can see the future.
No Intel Today
I haven’t listened to any of the usual Freelance Intelligence Analyst podcasts today. I’ve been weening the psyche off of them for the last year. They “kind of” know what they’re talking about – maybe - or at least they sound like it to me. If they don’t know what they’re talking about, I don’t know enough to know that they don’t know.
This one guy I stopped listening to because he sounded like he was losing his mind. He wanted to sing German memorial songs and he likes to do impressions in Russian accents. But the main reason I stopped listening to him is because he accused someone in government (in the current admin) of being a Zionist. No proof offered. No evidence. And the host simply accepted it and passed it along. I haven’t heard anyone else make that same accusation, and I don’t think that the subject ever addressed it.
This is how I “know” that certain information is supposed to be put out there into our minds.
Anyway – a lot of these characters, despite their presentations, are propagandists. They get their information from sources that want to propagate an agenda. We don’t know what that agenda is. But if you watch the show, we have an idea. We call it a “conspiracy theory.”
The US economy probably won’t collapse, but the USA will (we “predict”) become allied with China & Russia, the way it was during WW2. It’s very weird that after WW2 the Axis powers, Germany and Japan, became US allies and Russia and China became enemies.
Is it a “racial” thing?
Maybe not. Because they wouldn’t have allowed the Japanese into the club. But then again…
That’s it for the day. We’ll see you next time.
