Greetings friends of Daily Blog, this is my first publication in the community, I would like to share with you a walk that I made to the Museum of El Castillo de la Real Fuerza, located in Old Havana, is one of the most important historical treasures of Cuba, it is considered to be the oldest standing fortress of all in the Americas.

Like all fortresses, it was built with thick walls to have greater resistance to bullets. Around it, a moat limited by the perimeter wall. The cannons of the time that protected the place can be observed.
At present, the Castillo de la Fuerza houses the Museum of the City of Havana, where a 1:100 scale model of the fortress illustrates the constructive evolution of this building, based on a 1691 plan of the Plaza de Armas and its surroundings.
The museum also exhibits a rich collection of objects related to the history of navigation and shipbuilding in Cuba, including woodworking tools used by Cuban aboriginal communities, instruments found in archeological excavations, the Spanish ocean liner Juan Sebastián Elcano (1926) and the Santísima Trinidad, launched at sea in the Royal Shipyard of Havana in 1769.
The Castillo de la Fuerza, with its rich and fascinating history, is a living testimony of our colonial past, the enclosure evokes the time of the Spanish conquistadors and transports you to that time, it is undoubtedly an essential place to visit and understand our history and culture. It is not for nothing that this place is part of the cultural and historical heritage of humanity.

La torre Oeste tiene en su tope la copia de una afamada veleta de bronce llamada La Giraldilla, es el símbolo de la Ciudad y alrededor de ella se teje una leyenda de amor muy interesante, se dice que la esposa del gobernador Hernando de Soto, subía todos los días a esperar la llegada del Galeón de su esposo que había partido en la conquista de la Florida, él pereció en la acción y nunca regresó pero ella no dejo de subir a esperar,la Torre se le conoce como la Torre de la espera y por eso la Giraldilla es símbolo de Fidelidad y Amor.
Como toda fortaleza se levantó con gruesos muros para tener mayor resistencia a las balas. Alrededor, un foso limitado por el muro perimetral. Se pueden observar los cañones de la época que protegían el lugar.
En la actualidad, el Castillo de la Fuerza alberga el Museo de la Ciudad de La Habana,en el se encuentra una maqueta de la fortaleza a escala de 1:100 que ilustra la evolución constructiva de este edificio, basada en un plano de 1691 de La Plaza de Armas y alrededores.
El museo exhibe también una rica colección de objetos relacionados con la historia de la navegación y la construcción naval en Cuba, entre los que se encuentran herramientas para trabajar la madera que fueron usadas por las comunidades aborígenes cubanas, instrumentos encontrados en las excavaciones arqueológicas,también se muestra en unas de sus salas el trasatlántico español Juan Sebastián Elcano (1926) y el del Santísima Trinidad, botado al mar en el Real Astillero de La Habana en 1769
El Castillo de la Fuerza, con su historia rica y fascinante, es un testimonio vivo de nuestro pasado colonial,el recinto evoca la época de los conquistadores españoles y te transporta a esa época ,sin duda alguna es un lugar imprescindible para visitar y comprender nuestra historia y cultura. No por gusto este lugar forma parte del patrimonio cultural e histórico de la Humanidad.
