When my body and mind had basically just given up
I realized that 2025 seemed like the year where I’d easily get sick. Although, there wasn't a serious diagnosis, because some days it was just as simple as a mouth ulcer (not that simple, as it was hurt anyway). But looking back, it really felt like there was always something happen to my body.
And most of the time, I relied on medications I could find at the pharmacy without checking up to the doctor. I felt like I easily got a headache and fever, but I always thought it was bcs of the weather. That might be true, but it could also be that my body probably wasn't in top condition very often.
Somehow, it continued. I got sick so early to start the year. Not exactly on the first day of the new year, but in mid-January when I’d also just started working in a new place. I felt so cold for a few days, but I only consumed paracetamol as usual. Then when I didn’t get better, I decided to go to a clinic.
To be honest, I also had nausea, constant headache, and even diarrhea. It was Sunday, so I just went to a clinic that was open on the weekend. I had already had a fever for about 4 days at that point, but the doctor only prescribed me medication without suggesting any further action.
I felt better on Monday, so I just went to work, thinking that nothing worse would happen. What a day, I came home after work feeling extremely unwell. My fever returned and I was extremely weak, plus I suddenly started coughing. I'd taken medication from the clinic about 3 times already, and I didn’t even know why it wasn’t getting any better.
So the next morning, my mom suggested I go to another doctor where my sister usually checks up and she accompanied me bcs I was so weak and had no energy at all. When my temperature was checked, it was 37 degrees, which actually wasn’t that bad(?)
But the doctor said something like, “it’s already 37 degrees in the early morning, it usually will rise at night” which was true. She also pointed out that I had a fever for about 6 days in total, so she suggested I get a blood test at the lab. That's what I did, and the results showed I had typhoid symptoms. Still in "symptomatic" status, I didn’t think it was super bad, but I felt the worst. So, the doctor prescribed the top medicine which was quite pricey.
I’m fine now! At least, during the time I was just lying in bed, I finished one of my favourite thriller novels that I’ve been meaning to reread for a while. I’ll write about it soon, hehe. I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since the last time I wrote my blog, because life just happened and I need to prioritize other things. But I really miss writing, whether it’s about interesting places, some reflections on something, or simply about my boring mundane days.
The thing is, sometimes I still feel unwell, especially if it rains in the afternoon. But I’m also trying to get back into any kind of exercise I’d enjoy doing, so hopefully I can take better care of myself from now on.
Thanks for reading as always, hivers :) Hope you guys have great days ahead and please take care of yourself too!
