This weekend I’m definitely going to rest—at least that’s the plan. I won’t have any work, unless the Sunsol chain calls about one of those unexpected issues that pop up without warning and, no matter how much you want to, you just can’t ignore. Even so, I want to stay positive and wish you all a wonderful Saturday, hoping you can also take a break, breathe deeply, and recharge your batteries. I’ll be focusing on recharging mine, catching up on some pending tasks at home, and, above all, spending time with my family, which is always the best refuge after intense days.
Yesterday we wrapped up the work at Sunsol Ecoland, and it was a huge relief to finish it just in time so we could have the weekend free for ourselves. We woke up very early this Friday—which is now over—with our eyes on the goal and a very positive attitude. We were confident that everything would turn out well, and that attitude stayed with us from the moment we left home.
During the drive along the Portachuelo road, the weather was quite nice, though stifling, as the heat continues to reign supreme. However, not even that oppressive heat could detract from the beauty of the natural and urban landscapes unfolding around us. A few clouds lingered in the sky, but it was no big deal; as the day went on, many of them dissipated, revealing a brilliant blue sky.
Este fin de semana sí voy a descansar, al menos esa es la intención inicial. No tendré trabajo, a menos que llamen de la cadena Sunsol por algún imprevisto de esos que aparecen sin avisar y que, por más que uno quiera, no se pueden ignorar. Aun así, quiero pensar en positivo y desearles un hermoso sábado, esperando que también puedan tener una pausa, respirar profundo y recargar todas sus energías. Yo estaré muy enfocada en recargar las mías, en ponerme al día con algunos pendientes en casa y, sobre todo, en compartir tiempo con mi familia, que siempre es el mejor refugio después de días intensos.
Ayer concluimos el trabajo en Sunsol Ecoland, y fue un alivio enorme poder terminarlo justo a tiempo para que el fin de semana quedara libre para nosotros. Nos levantamos este viernes que ya terminó muy temprano, con la mirada puesta en el objetivo y el ánimo muy positivo. Teníamos la confianza de que todo saldría bien, y esa actitud nos acompañó desde que salimos de casa.
Durante el trayecto por la vía Portachuelo nos recibió un clima bastante bueno, aunque sofocante, porque el calor sigue imperando con fuerza. Sin embargo, ni siquiera ese calor tan pesado logró restarle belleza a los paisajes naturales y urbanos que se desplegaban a nuestro alrededor. Algunas nubes se posaron sobre el cielo, pero no pasó nada; a medida que avanzó el día, muchas se disiparon y dejaron ver un azul brillante.
We drove through Santa Ana, with its picturesque streets that always radiate joy. That town has a special charm, a contagious vibe that you can feel even when you’re just passing through. That short stretch of road always brings a smile to my face.
That day we were carrying thirty liters of bleach in the car, because two tanks needed to be disinfected. As a precaution, I put on a mask; with the severe drought these days, there’s dust in the air, and my allergies are a bit sensitive. Even the slightest odors bother me, so I decided to play it safe.
Atravesamos Santa Ana, con sus calles pintorescas que siempre transmiten alegría. Esa localidad tiene un encanto especial, una vibra contagiosa que se siente incluso cuando uno solo va de paso. Ese pequeño tramo del camino siempre me arranca una sonrisa.
Ese día llevábamos en el auto treinta litros de hipoclorito, porque debían desinfectarse dos tanques. Por precaución me coloqué una mascarilla; en estos días de tanta sequía hay polvo en el ambiente, y mi alergia anda un poco sensible. Los olores, por mínimos que sean, me afectan, así que preferí prevenir.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were once again greeted by Carel, with that characteristic enthusiasm of his that always adds a pleasant touch to the day. On this occasion, I had to stay in the office while the desalination plant was being inspected, because I had some unfinished business to discuss with the general manager.
Al llegar al hotel, nuevamente fuimos recibidos por Carel, con ese entusiasmo característico que siempre le pone un toque agradable a la jornada. En esta ocasión tuve que quedarme en la oficina mientras se hacía la inspección a la planta desalinizadora, porque tenía asuntos pendientes que tratar con el gerente general.
The meeting was productive, and once it was over, we went to fill the tanks with chlorine. Since there were two of them, Luis came along; thirty liters sounds easy enough, but it’s actually quite heavy, and neither he nor my husband lets me carry anything heavy.
La reunión fue productiva y, una vez concluida, nos dirigimos a clorar los tanques. Como eran dos, Luis nos acompañó; treinta litros se dicen fácil, pero pesan bastante, y ni él ni mi esposo permiten que cargue nada pesado.
After chlorination, we checked all the readings. After two days of continuous work, we managed to bring everything within the correct parameters. That feeling of seeing the results turn out just as they should filled us with satisfaction and joy. It’s a relief to know that our efforts are paying off.
Before leaving, we took some photos of the scenery around us. The day was so beautiful that it was impossible not to capture those moments. Then we left the facility with a very pleasant sense of calm and accomplishment.
Después del clorado verificamos todos los valores. Tras dos días de trabajo continuo, logramos que todo quedara en los parámetros correctos. Esa sensación de ver los resultados como deben ser nos llenó de satisfacción y alegría. Es un alivio saber que el esfuerzo rinde frutos.
Antes de retirarnos, tomamos algunas fotos del paisaje que nos rodeaba. El día estaba tan bonito que era imposible no capturar esos momentos. Luego salimos de la instalación con una sensación muy agradable de tranquilidad y cumplimiento.
On the way back, we passed by La Playa Lagoon, which was absolutely beautiful. The weather really brought out its natural beauty, and of course I didn't miss the chance to capture those moments with my phone camera.
En el camino de regreso pasamos por la laguna La Playa, que estaba preciosa. El clima hacía que su belleza natural resaltara aún más, y por supuesto no perdí la oportunidad de inmortalizar esos instantes con el lente del teléfono.
And that’s how our workday came to an end—a day that paved the way for a well-deserved rest.
