Saludos, amigos de #worldmappin Hoy quiero llevarlos conmigo a recorrer un pedacito muy especial de la zona costera de Playa El Tirano, un lugar que siempre logra sorprenderme aunque lo visite con frecuencia. Cada vez que pasó por allí siento que descubro algo nuevo, un detalle distinto, un matiz que antes no había notado. Es una mezcla hermosa entre lo cotidiano y lo extraordinario, entre la vida sencilla de los pescadores y la belleza natural que envuelve todo el litoral.
As I’ve mentioned in other posts, this is a fishing village, home to hardworking people who head out to sea at the crack of dawn and return with the fresh catch of the day. But at the same time, El Tirano has tourist spots that will charm anyone: its wide beach, its white sand, the constant sound of the waves, and that unique light found only on Margarita. It’s a place where contrasts coexist, and perhaps that’s why it has such a special charm. You can see everything from beautiful, well-maintained hotels to abandoned structures that tell stories of the past. You might come across tourists seeking tranquility and, just a few meters away, fishermen returning from the sea.
Como les he contado en otras publicaciones, esta es una zona de pescadores, gente trabajadora que desde muy temprano sale al mar y regresa con el fruto fresco de su faena. Pero al mismo tiempo, El Tirano tiene rincones turísticos que enamoran a cualquiera; su playa amplia, su arena clara, el sonido constante de las olas y esa luz particular que solo tiene Margarita. Es un lugar donde conviven los contrastes, y quizás por eso tiene un encanto tan especial. Puedes ver desde hoteles hermosos y bien cuidados hasta estructuras abandonadas que cuentan historias del pasado. Puedes encontrarte con turistas buscan tranquilidad y, a pocos metros, con pescadores, regresando del mar.
During my walk this week, I decided to head over to the area where the fishermen’s boats are moored. There’s always an authentic, lively atmosphere there. The men chat with one another, some clean the freshly caught fish, and others get ready to head back out to sea. In Margarita, especially at this time of year, eating fresh fish is almost a daily tradition during Holy Week, so seeing that natural bustle fills me with joy.
En mi recorrido de esta semana decidí acercarme a la zona donde reposan los botes de los pescadores. Allí siempre se respira un ambiente auténtico, lleno de vida. Los hombres conversan entre ellos, otros limpian el pescado recién traído, y algunos se preparan para volver al mar. En Margarita, especialmente en esta época, comer pescado fresco es casi una tradición diaria de semana santa, así que ver esa actividad tan natural me llena de alegría.
Very close by is the famous Chana Hotel, a building that now lies in ruins but was once an important landmark. I had never gotten this close before, and this time I decided to do so. My husband and I left our motorcycle near the fishermen, who very kindly watched over it for us, and began climbing a cliff that had always caught my eye. At the top there is a cross, and from that vantage point the view is simply breathtaking. From there you can see the entire coastline of El Tirano stretching out like a shimmering ribbon, and on the other side, the entire beach, with its vibrant energy.
Muy cerca de allí está el famoso Chana Hotel, una estructura que hoy está en ruinas pero que alguna vez fue un lugar importante. Jamás me había acercado tanto, y esta vez decidí hacerlo. Mi esposo y yo dejamos la moto cerca de los pescadores, quienes muy amablemente nos la cuidaron, y comenzamos a subir un risco que siempre había llamado mi atención. En la cima hay una cruz, y desde ese punto la vista es simplemente impresionante. Desde allí se puede ver todo el litoral de El Tirano extendiéndose como una cinta brillante, y del otro lado, la playa completa, con su energía vibrante.
This cliff also has a sort of natural pool that fills up when the tide comes in. As I watched it, I couldn't help but think that if I lived nearby, I'd come here to swim every afternoon. It's a magical, hidden spot, perfect for getting away from it all.
Este risco tiene además una especie de piscina natural que se llena cuando sube la marea. Mientras la observaba, no pude evitar pensar que si viviera cerquita vendría a bañarme allí cada tarde. Es un rincón mágico, escondido, perfecto para desconectarse del mundo.
During my walk, I saw gannets in flight, pelicans gliding over the water, and even a few vultures at the base of a palm tree, as if they were keeping watch over the landscape.
Durante mi caminata pude ver alcatraces en vuelo, pelícanos planeando sobre el agua y hasta algunos zamuros al pies de una palmera, como si estuvieran vigilando el paisaje.
And in the distance, as imposing as ever, stood Guayamurí Hill, reminding us that nature here has a powerful and serene presence.
Y a lo lejos, imponente como siempre, se levantaba el cerro Guayamurí, recordándonos que la naturaleza aquí tiene una presencia poderosa y serena.
The truth is, El Tirano Beach never ceases to amaze me. I visit it once a week for work, but it’s only when I take a leisurely stroll that I can truly appreciate its charms. Its sunsets are a gift—a living painting that changes every day. Now that there are fewer tourists on the island, I’ll come back to enjoy them and share them with you.

La verdad es que Playa El Tirano nunca deja de sorprenderme. La visito una vez por semana por trabajo, pero solo cuando camino sin prisa puedo disfrutar realmente de sus encantos. Sus atardeceres son un regalo, una pintura viva que cambia cada día, en estos días cuando la Isla esté con menos turistas vendré a apreciarlo y se los mostraré.
