One of the most beloved days of the week is finally here: Friday. It’s the day many of us eagerly await because it signals rest, a break, and a well-deserved respite after so many responsibilities. That’s why today I want to wish you all a wonderful weekend, filled with calm, pleasant moments, and, above all, that rest we so desperately need to recharge our batteries.
In my case, it looks like my weekend will be a little shorter than usual, because this Saturday I have to work at Sunsol. I’m not complaining, but I will admit that work has been pretty intense lately and has left me exhausted. So much so that, on more than one occasion, I’ve fallen asleep while writing or proofreading. The good news is that this intensity only happens twice a year; the rest of the time, the pace is more leisurely and manageable, which lets us breathe a little easier.
Yesterday, Thursday, was a particularly busy morning at Sunsol Unik. We left home early, as my husband and I usually do. Even though we don’t always have to arrive early, we like to leave calmly, without rushing, enjoying the ride. For us, appreciating the scenery is a way to relax, even on the busiest days. It’s as if nature reminds us that, despite the exhaustion, there’s always something beautiful to look at.
The weather has been very cloudy lately, but as you know, those gray days aren’t my favorite—though I do appreciate them. That overcast sky has a special magic, a soft light that transforms the landscapes and gives them a unique charm. The only downside is the greenhouse effect that builds up, making the day feel hotter than usual. Even so, we continue to enjoy the journey, chatting and taking in every detail.
Ya llegó uno de los días más amados de la semana; el viernes. Ese día que muchos esperamos con ansias porque anuncia descanso, pausa y un respiro merecido después de tantas responsabilidades. Por eso hoy quiero desearles un hermoso fin de semana, lleno de calma, de momentos agradables y, sobre todo, de ese descanso que tanto necesitamos para recargar energías.
En mi caso, al parecer mi fin de semana será un poco más corto de lo habitual, porque este sábado me toca trabajar en la cadena Sunsol. No me quejo, pero sí admito que estos días el trabajo ha sido bastante fuerte y me ha dejado agotada. Tanto así que, en más de una ocasión, me he quedado dormida escribiendo o revisando. Lo bueno es que esta intensidad solo ocurre en dos épocas del año; el resto del tiempo el ritmo es más pausado y manejable, lo que permite respirar un poco mejor.
Ayer jueves fue una mañana particularmente ocupada en Sunsol Unik. Salimos temprano de casa, como solemos hacerlo mi esposo y yo. Aunque no siempre tengamos que llegar temprano, nos gusta salir con calma, sin prisas, disfrutando el trayecto. Para nosotros, apreciar el paisaje es una forma de relajarnos, incluso en los días más intensos. Es como si la naturaleza nos recordará que, a pesar del cansancio, siempre hay algo bello que mirar.
El clima sigue muy nublado en estos días, pero ya saben que a mí esos días grises no son los que más me gustan, pero los se valorar. Ese cielo empedrado tiene una magia especial, una luz suave que transforma los paisajes y les da un encanto distinto. Lo único malo es el efecto invernadero que se forma y hace que el día se sienta más caliente de lo normal. Aun así, seguimos disfrutando del camino, conversando y observando cada detalle.
Once we arrived at the hotel, our day began. We spent most of the day there because we had to accompany the maintenance manager through every floor and area of the hotel, conducting a general assessment for a future project. We walked a lot, checking every corner, taking notes, and evaluating details. We only took a break for lunch and then continued until we finished the entire tour. Since there were still tourists in some areas, it was impossible to take photos inside the hotel, even though I would have loved to capture some of the spots.
Al llegar al hotel, comenzó nuestra jornada. Estuvimos allí gran parte del día porque debíamos acompañar al gerente de mantenimiento por todos los pisos y áreas del hotel, haciendo un diagnóstico general para un proyecto futuro. Caminamos muchísimo, revisando cada rincón, tomando notas, evaluando detalles. Solo hicimos una pausa para almorzar y luego continuamos hasta concluir todo el recorrido. Como aún había turistas en algunas zonas, fue imposible tomar fotos dentro del hotel, aunque me hubiese encantado capturar algunos rincones.
When we were done, we left and headed to the Taguapire convenience store, located on Main Street in Chinguirito, Atamo Norte, Catalán sector, Nueva Esparta state, Margarita Island. My father had called me while I was working to ask me to buy him a roll of Cobra-brand teipe—which is the brand he likes—so we took advantage of the trip home from work to do him the favor.
When we arrived at the convenience store, I was clearly exhausted, but my husband, oddly enough, was suspiciously enthusiastic. I eventually figured out why; in addition to the tape, he came back with some palmeritas, which he loves. And I have to admit that they sell them there fresh, crispy, and truly delicious.
Al terminar, nos retiramos y fuimos al minimarket Taguapire, ubicado en la calle principal Chinguirito, Atamo Norte, sector Catalán, estado Nueva Esparta, Isla Margarita. Mi padre me había llamado mientras trabajaba para pedirme que le comprara un rollo de teipe marca cobra que es el que le gusta a él , así que aprovechamos el camino de regreso del trabajo para hacerle el favor.
Al llegar al minimarket, mi agotamiento era evidente, pero mi esposo, curiosamente, estaba con un entusiasmo sospechosamente alto. Al final entendí por qué; además del teipe, apareció con unas palmeritas que a él le encantan. Y debo admitir que en ese lugar las venden frescas, crujientes y realmente deliciosas.
We then stopped by my father’s house; he’s also a huge fan of sweets. Between him and my husband, they polished off all the palm-shaped cookies without leaving a crumb, while I watched them laugh like two mischievous children. After that brief visit, we finally headed home to wrap up the day.

Pasamos luego por casa de mi padre, quien también es fanático de los dulces. Entre él y mi esposo se comieron todas las palmeritas sin dejar rastro, mientras yo los veía reírse como dos niños traviesos. Después de esa breve visita, finalmente regresamos a casa para cerrar el día.
