FUN WEEKEND WITH FAMILY Fried Chicken, Giant Titan, and Beautiful Lights at AEON JGC!
Nothing is more satisfying than a weekend that finally happens β after long discussions and repeated rescheduling, finally my two younger sisters, and my beloved auntie successfully hung out together at AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City.
And this wasn't just an ordinary hangout, because AEON was holding the Attack on Titan Final Season Pop-Up Store! Yep, Titan and friends were invading East Jakarta, and we didn't want to miss the hype!
πFIRST STOP: EAT FIRST, BOSS!
Once we arrived and parked our motorbikes, our main mission was... to fill up our stomachs first. We immediately headed to one of the restaurants with a Western-style comfort food menu. The menu choices were mouth-watering:
- The youngest (who ate the most enthusiastically) immediately ordered rice + crispy fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce.
- My auntie chose safe but elegant β beef steak with mashed potatoes and boiled vegetables.
- My middle sister and I all took a combo platter of rice, grilled chicken, and fresh salad.
The food arrived quickly, the portions were generous, and the taste? Awesome. While eating, my aunt reminisced about the days of watching anime on VCD (yes, VCD!) and told a story about how she used to think Attack on Titan was a zombie movie. We all laughed so hard we almost squirted our drinks.
βοΈ TITAN TIME!
With our stomachs full, it was time to move on to the highlight of the day: Attack on Titan Final Season Pop-Up Store, yuhuuuuuu!
As soon as we arrived at the event area, we were immediately greeted by a really big Titan statue that looked like a giant standing proudly at the entrance. Seriously, it was really big! The Titan's face was detailed β between cool and a little scary. Of course, we immediately stopped to take pictures. The youngest posed as if he was being captured by a Titan, while my aunt posed like Levi was ready to fight. The photos were absurd but really priceless!
Entering the pop-up store, the vibe immediately changed: gloomy but epic (like the series, anyway). The walls were full of posters and iconic quotes from Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and the Survey Corps gang. In the middle, there were photo spots that were made to resemble real sets β from the city walls to the headquarters. My aunt even managed to pose like Commander Erwin with her hands behind her back while looking into the distance. So stylish!
We also checked out the merchandise. There were so many cute ones: key chains, pins, t-shirts, and 3D Maneuver gear replicas. We didn't go on a shopping spree, but each of us went home with a pin of our favorite character: I took Mikasa (queen!), the middle sibling obviously took Levi, and the youngest chose the Titan version of Eren.
πΈ AT NIGHT? LIKE ENTERING A FAIRY TALE
After being satisfied as Shiganshina residents for a day, we walked to the small park on the outside of the mall. It turned out that there was a Light Festival and... wow. I swear this park turned into a fairy tale land.
Colorful LED lights decorated the path. There was a cherry blossom-shaped light tunnel, hanging lanterns swaying gently, and sparkling installations in the shape of cute animals and stars. We walked slowly, chatting, taking pictures, and occasionally laughing out loud because my aunt kept posing wrongly every time she wanted to have her picture taken.
My aunt blurted out, βThis is really like Japan, itβs just missing a yukata.β We all agreed, we just had to wait for the takoyaki to pass by to make it even more perfect.
π¬ CONCLUSION?
This weekend = 10/10. Fun, crowded, absurd, warm, and full of little moments that make our hearts happy. Sometimes we donβt need a long vacation. Just a giant Titan, delicious fried chicken, pretty lights, and our loved ones are enough to make one day really memorable. Next time, maybe weβll come for cosplay? (My aunt is already planning to buy a Mikasa wig, she said π)
