ENGLISH
This was the second birthday I spent outside Cuba and, in spite of the distance, the absence of my blood family, I must say that my family here in Mexico made me forget that I was missing those sentimental things.
The day began with a visit to a market, to buy the necessary things to share at the birthday party. I must say that I didn't know which cake I was going to buy because they were all delicious and in different flavors: Chocolate, strawberry, orange, lemon, milk and more.
While I picked out the sweets, my husband picked out other foods, with the goal of making dinner and having a good time.
The birthday had two special moments: first, my husband and I had a small soiree in our apartment, setting up a table with cakes, refreshments and other gifts. At this moment each one of our family from Cuba was present, we remembered the birthdays of previous years and other things that unite us and that we like.
In a second moment, we went to the house of some people who have welcomed us as their relatives. We thought it was a formal invitation. However, and to my surprise, they had a meal prepared and we had a small party that I was very grateful for.
I must thank my husband because I am sure he was an accomplice of this gift together with my Mexican family.
I must say that it was a very nice day. It is true that, in several moments I remembered my brothers, my nephews and my mother came to my mind, but, my Mexican family took care of making me forget all the nostalgia and suffering for being far away from my country and they did everything they could do, so that I had the best time possible.
