I love the fact that people are getting involved. I love the feedback, the ideas, the little sparks that end up making our apps better.
Last night, as I was winding down, and
were chatting and planning improvements to 3Speak’s newest front end.
We need new feeds.
The consensus came pretty quickly. And I hate to say it, but it does feel like 3Speak, on its own, was never really used as a Hive front end with video. It was more like the place where you upload videos so they show up on your blog — but actually hanging around, browsing other creators, replying, interacting… that’s a whole different story.
Now, to be clear: 3Speak doesn’t aim to become a “normal” Hive front end. That wouldn’t make much sense. But it also can’t be a front end that needs crutches.
If you want to follow a tag, or see what your people have posted — and only them — you should be able to do that right there, with a click or two. Tops.
As the title says: more butter for the Pancreas
The tiny REST API keeps getting beefier.
Can I say a pancreas is beefier? That feels both correct and incorrect at the same time. Is the pancreas edible? That’s the real question.
But I digress.
This morning — because YOLOs and whatnot — I implemented two new endpoints in Pancreas:
One for searching and surfing tags
One for feeds, very much like our beloved Hive front ends
That’s it. That’s the magic.
Now all that’s left is for Keso to plug it into the front end and wham bam thank you ma’am — liftoff. Houston, we have no problems. I think. Probably. Point is: I’m excited.
These upgrades, these ideas coming together — this is the good stuff. And I think we should all be excited about where this is heading.
Long live the Pancreas.
