Hive—and cryptocurrencies more broadly—are trying to solve the problem of money.
This, actually, isn't true as a whole... I mean, even Vitalik said that the point of creating ETH was to create as super-computer, with smart contracts and such, and the "monetary value" came uninvited, and even made harm to development of the original idea... In the same way, I would disagree on HIVE trying to solve the "money issue"... It has much more value beyond money...
And regarding buyers and sellers, I suppose all of us did like you... I judged others who were selling, avoiding them with upvotes... Luckily, we didn't get people downvoted for selling HIVE, yet... Hopefully we will not, but you never know... it could happen...
As I said many times, the main HIVE issue is INCENTIVE! Why would I buy HIVE? What it gives me... It's easy to judge sellers and accuse them for HIVE price drop... Now, imagine the opposite scenario, the price of HIVE is going up, week by week, month by month... All those sellers would regret selling early (the same way you regretted NOT selling), and accusing BUYERS for the price soaring (it happens a lot... the so-called "hate pump")... It works in both directions, but unfortunately, we know much better the one when it goes down...
Back to incentives... and let's go personal and honest... Why would I buy HIVE if it gets diluted by 20% per year? If the price stays low, this crypto QE (high token supply) will last longer, and damage will just grow... With buying HIVE, I can just "chase" my governance %, but I will never catch it...
I stayed without my INCENTIVE... Excluding price speculation, what would be your incentive to buy HIVE? In the current state of the chain?
IMO, what we need are more apps built on top of HIVE, like the upcoming Speak Network, or some new game, or some De-Fi app... But all of them should have a business model, to have an incentive for developers to continue building and operating, and hopefully, burn some HIVE on the way (or at least lock them)... Incentive is making money with your developed app, and when you have that, you don't need to "extract" monetary value from HIVE (DHF proposals, staking rewards, etc), but rather USE the blockchain side of HIVE, the infrastructure to grow your app...
Just my 2c... Sorry for the long comment...
