Hello guys, it's another week's prompt with quite an interesting topic. I find this topic very interesting if I must say. "popular sayings I don't agree with". The thing is there are a number of sayings I feel aren't so relatable and I hundred percent do not agree with and I also feel they should be revisited and corrected.
One of such sayings that I do not agree with is the one about "show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are". Seriously? Personally I have a number of friends, and I will show you to them but I am nothing like they are. You definitely cannot use them to know or understand the kind of person that I am.
I have this friend, he's someone I spent most of my free days with while I was still in school. He was someone's company I enjoyed so well and he enjoyed mine too, this I can say with all sincerity. This guy was a down right smoker. He puffed really good but then despite us being together always and being with him even while he smoked, I never for once smoked, not even out of fun or anything, I never even had a desire to take it. So now, he was my friend but he was a smoker but I wasn't. So if I showed him to you as my friend does that automatically make me who haven't smoked before a smoker? Simply because he's my friend? That's not even all of it, he was also someone who was very nonchalant and unserious with school and academics which is the complete opposite of me.
He misses class like it's no one's business and does as he pleases during exam with the excuse that he has his ways. But I no get any ways myself o😂 so I was nothing like that. I could show you that person as my friend and because he's that way you think I'm that way too?? Trust people with different attitudes and behaviors can be friends and it doesn't define who the other person is.
Another popular saying I do not agree with is that one that says "a friend of a thief is a thief" or birds of the same feather flock together? Why can't a friend of a rich man be a man as well? Let's be logical abeg. There a lot of people who have friends who in one way or the other have stolen or steals but you as a person haven't stolen before. But you ordinarily relate wuth somebody who does. Does this make you a thief as well? Oya if you are Saud to be a thief why can't your friendship with a rich man make you rich automatically? Nobody will even mistakenly say something like that or even give you the treatment of a rich man. But they treat you with discord as a thief if you're a thief's friend. The list of disagreeable statements is very long.
