Health science was the subject that I loved the most when I was in primary school. I know that some of my classmates, including my friends, found it difficult, but it wasn't the same case for me. I liked it, I liked the teacher who took the subject and I excelled.
I did not always like it in the beginning cause it was tough for me, but I did my best to pass. What happened was that my teacher back then was my mother's friend and for fear that she would complain about me to my mum if I performed badly which my African mum would likely overreact to and discipline me for made me study hard. Little by little, with each study, I began to slow down and grasp and understand the subject, and my likeness for it grew so much that I was determined to never fail it. And I did just thar.
My knowledge of health science and love for it was possibly why I gravitated towards biology when I got into high school. Biology was a piece of cake for me. As a child who grew up saying she wants to ve a nurse, and who took interest in all things medical related and paid attention to the human body, I easily learned enough to argument and solidify whatever I was taught in class. When it comes to the subject of biology, I was never an average student but a distinction student.
Biology was the subject that if you woke me up by midnight to ask me a question on, just as far as I have read or come across the topic before, I would give an answer. The best part was that we had teachers who knew how to break down the topics and be very practical about it all just as students like to hear and be taught. Biology class was so entertaining that even students who weren't offering the subject snuck into the class just to be part of it. With every other subject, I performed well. I never performed poorly. Biology, though, happened to be my best of the best. How do I even forget a very practical subject with so many illustrations and one that I can easily relate to for that matter? It's a high impossibility.
Because of my interest in biology and the medical profession, I set out to study nursing. Unfortunately, I didn't get admitted for nursing, but I got Physiology, which is simply the functioning of the body. I enjoyed my time through it and did not face many difficulties with it. Sadly too, there are not many job prospects for it in Nigeria but putting that aside, Nursing is my first love and I'd be delighted to go for it and learn what interests me on a deeper, practical level.
