Civilization, especially, I blame for the sudden change in people. Years back, when people knew less , the world was better. Less blood spill, hatred wasn't common, greed and envy were not feasible and men lived together as one, peacefully in their ignorance. When money wasn't a substance, trade by barter existed, dwelling on what they had in exchange for what they lacked. Anyone just needed to have something enough to exchange for what they wanted with someone who loved what they had. It was a more peaceful world with less and insignificant crime than the current era where knowledge they believed has heightened.
With evolution, people became greedy, finding ways to enrich themselves because one thing was agreed to be the means of payment (money). The more the money, the more power one had and so men desired it at all cost. Not only to satisfy hunger , but to gain power over the poor and oppress those who had little. Gradually, other evil started to crib in until the world now bleeds, begging for healing, not only on the man but on men whose hearts are corrupted by a system that needs to be changed or redefined. It isn't the world that has changed , it's the people and the system they have put in place that has changed.

Is it possible that evil would be eradicated? The answer is NO, it has spread and grown roots in every sector that men have seen as the new normal. However, we can make the world a better place for you and for me and the entire human race if money no longer holds as much power as it does and that's almost impossible. Every evil is born from the love of money, and if we can tackle the root cause, we can tackle the other evil that rests on it.
While money is the root, our heart is the seed. Every matter of life comes from it. If our heart is not guarded , it breeds thoughts that gradually become us. A rapist doesn't suddenly wake up a day to carry on the act, it's a tiny thought that gradually grows until it is transformed into action, the same are other evil that's done by men. If we want to heal the world, our heart and the love of money are the two things to tackle. What we allow our mind to perceive and what we allow our eyes to behold (money). If our heart can be transformed and our eyes withheld, the world will move toward healing.
