Social media has had many positive and negative influence on the human lives in different aspects that affect people. Hence, the question of the influence of social media on charity is one that we cannot over emphasize because some charity platforms has been helpful and pose positive influence in the lives of the people they help while some others have become a negative influence to them and has made them bend to peer pressure that has affected them and their mental Health.
So based on our current experience on what social media can and cannot do, it is safe to say that social media has changed the perspective or the ways by which people support charity. There are many platforms across different social media such as Facebook, tiktok and Instagram that allows people to spread awareness for those that cannot afford data to come online and air their concerns.
One of the social media platforms that catch my attention especially on tiktok and Facebook is a guy called Bayuztv, in this guy's videos we see how he goes out of his home early in the morning and help kids who are going to school especially in public schools by getting them notebooks, school bags, sandals, socks, stationeries, pay their school fees and so on. I like his strategy because he doesn't just give to those who would be ungrateful or not appreciate the effort rather he gives to children whom he sees that needs these things.
Again, there is another guy on tiktok who helps bike Men by getting them some liters of fuel. Watching these videos Gladens my heart because it is so amazing to think of people and support their businesses by getting them resources that would grow them. As we are all aware in Nigeria, problem of price hike in fuel as made many to step down from the biking business causing people to diversify into illegal businesses.
In essence, charity through social media platforms gain the popularity it deserves through sharing of pictures and videos which allows people both women are brought to raise funds.
