Hi(ve) everyone in the hive community. I'm Simbiyat Oyiza Haruna.
I'm from Kogi State, Nigeria.
About me
Oyiza is my middle, or tribal name as we like to call it here, and it means "blessing." It’s quite a very common name, if not the most common in my tribe, Ebira. Simbiyat, on the other hand, is my first name. It's quite rare though, even amongst the Islamic community. It's not a widely known or classical Arabic or Islamic name, so its exact meaning is not well-documented. It's often used by Yorubas, and many people often confuse me to be Yoruba by tribe at the first hearing of my name.
I come from a family of seven: my parents and five children. I'm the first child. I'm currently 23 years old and will be 24 by November this year. I grew up under two lovely people: my mom, Mrs. Nana Haruna, a caterer and businesswoman, and my dad, Mr. Haruna, a lecturer at the Federal University of Lokoja. Being the first child hasn't always been easy, of course, especially not when you have three boys after you. They just grow tall and start to feel they're now older than you. It's wholesome (at times), and of course, there are also days where I’ve had my fill. Summarily, I won't be a first child in my next life. No no no.
Education
I did my preliminary education in New Era School, Mokwa, Niger State, before proceeding to Temlad Nursery and Primary School, Minna, the state's capital wherefrom I proceeded to a boarding school, Federal Government Girls College, Bida, Niger State, for six years, for my junior to senior secondary education. My time there was nothing short of adventurous, eye-opening, and exciting. Albeit, I also had my bad days. I held the position of Labor Prefect in my final year.
I proceeded to study for a BSc in Chemistry at the Federal University, Lokoja, and graduated in the class of '21. I've been working intern jobs here and there after my youth service in Ogun State. I recently just got admitted into the University of Calabria, Italy, where I intend to pursue my master’s degree. I resume September 2025.
Hobbies / Likes
I love reading, like... I LOVE reading a lot. Developed the habit since childhood. My favorite genre of novella is romance. 🤗
I also love to write, fiction and even nonfiction. I'm a very opinionated and expressive person, and I don't spare the words and world in doing so.
My favorite food?
I'm not sure I have one, but I generally love proteinous foods; beans and eggs being at the top of the list. I generally consider myself a light eater, you know... I belong more to that class of "eating to live," not "living to eat."
