Hello everyone, Hope you are doing very well today and your day is going very well.
I love eating good food, and I also love cooking too, so choosing my favourite dish was very hard until I tasted my mum's melon soup. I can eat melon soup for as many days as possible and not get tired; even if it purges me, I don't really pay attention to the purging. I just love the taste, and it is prepared.
Melon soup is my favourite soup, and it is prepared in different ways. It is prepared with bitter leaf and water leaf; it can also be prepared with okra and palm fruit.
Melon is rich in so many minerals, like calcium, potassium, etc. Melon aids your eyesight and makes you overcome fatigue.
I love preparing my melon with just water leaf with other ingredients like seasoning, pepper, salt, meat, oil, periwinkle, fresh fish, etc.
I remember that my grandmother used to prepare it by frying it with red oil before cooking it.
One day, we went to visit our grandma, and she offered to cook us something. She asked us what we wanted to eat. I, who did not know or have a favourite food at that time, was craving fried rice. But Mum said that cooking rice at that time for all the people in the house was not too economical. We were up to thirty-five people in the house as we went for a holiday. My grandma had a very big farm, and she was growing melon on it, so Mum said that we should cook melon soup.
Grandma had already harvested two bags of melon, so we were just to peel it and prepare it. Me, who did not really like the idea, wanted to leave the house because I did not want to assist in doing anything. I prepared and told my mum that I wanted to get something very important in the market, so she allowed me. I stepped out and went to the village stream just to cool off some stress. I stayed there for a very long time and then returned with the story that I could not find what I was looking for, so Mum believed.
I asked for my own share of food, and they told me where I could get it. I went into the kitchen and saw something that was eye-catching. I was enticed by the aroma and how the soup looked. I couldn't hold myself back; I carried the food and started eating it. I did not know when I finished the soup and asked for more. It tasted like what I have not eaten before. Before that day I never liked melon; I just ate it because there was no other option, but from that day till today, I can choose a plate of melon soup without meat over a plate of fried rice with chicken no matter how big the chicken is.
Good food depends on how it is cooked; wisdom is needed in the kitchen too.
I invite ,
