The bright terracotta color with a unique texture creates a warm space that remains modern with several variations.
Travel is about discovering new things. Providing inspiration for our lives. Or at least it can make us feel happy, joyful, and also cheerful at having experienced this new experience.
I am a detail person. That's why I like to pay attention to many things at once when stopping at various places. This includes toilet space.
Maybe for many people, the toilet is just a space at the back of the building that is not that important to pay attention to. But for me, the toilet actually reflects the owner of the building or house.
In my own house, I design my own bathroom and toilet to have a clean impression and also give a neat impression to the whole house.
I was excited when I found toilets with unique designs and of course, implementing cleanliness. So, this time I will share a toilet that is quite unique and is the first time I have encountered a design like this.
TERRACOTA CONCEPT ON TOILET
Terracota is clay with many specific shapes that are fired and produce a mixture of reddish-orange and brown. Terracotta can generally be found in rocks used to make walls in buildings.
Until now, house buildings in Indonesia generally use terracotta material as the base of the walls. Then other materials are added to produce many impressions, according to the owner's wishes. Generally, terracotta walls are coated with cement, or in modern residences ceramic or granite is used to cover the terracotta material.
Terracotta materials do give a natural and classic impression. But with some appropriate combinations, it can actually produce the impression of a modern and clean space.
As I found in the toilet of a restaurant I stopped at some time ago. This restaurant has a natural location on the river bank. It is not surprising that the restaurant then uses the terracotta concept to maintain a natural impression throughout the building.
I was very surprised to see that the restaurant's toilet was quite unique. Terracotta is used in such a way to produce a combination of classic and modern. Uniquely, the toilet space looks elegant and bright, also bright even though it uses terracotta material which tends to have darker shades.
Because of this uniqueness, I couldn't stop myself from capturing this toilet on my camera. So, stay tuned on my architecture journey on a unique toilet.
front area
The front area of this toilet does not have a closed main door. The toilet entry area is left open for an external impression. Meanwhile, at the front near the toilet marker, several ornamental plants were added which were placed on a wooden table.
From the front of the toilet before entering, we can already see the terracotta vibes which are the highlight. We can see that the area below the wall uses brick-shaped terracotta. In the partition, terracotta is used with a perforated texture which is used as air ventilation. The brick wall was added with cement polish and painted white on the remaining part.
In the right corner, there is an ornamental plant in a white pot. Without terracotta material. In my opinion, this is to create contrast so that this place is not monotonous.
The next space, on the left, is my favorite space. Rows of sinks complete with mirrors are the center of attention. There are five waste basins, and also 5 mirrors.
I admit, they have a great sense of composition and placement of materials. The position between the mirrors and the sinks is placed at the right distance.
Sinks are used shiny porcelain material. These wasteful are placed on black ceramic stands to balance the terracotta and white colors.
WHITE & BRIGHT GRANITE WALL
On the main wall, white and bright granite material is used, with a few black streaks. Granite material has a bright and glossy after appearance. It makes the whole space feel modern and classy.
TERRACOTA VENTILATION
In modern times like now, people tend to use white air vents which tend to be transparent. On several occasions, air ventilation is also used to divide one space from another.
In this toilet, we can see that the terracotta material is also used for air ventilation. This creates a strong natural impression on this toilet. With a good composition of course. The terracotta reflection in the mirror creates the toilet seems unique and spacious.
ROUND MIRRORS WITHOUT FRAME
Uniqueness is not only created from the terracotta material used. Frameless round mirrors also add a unique impression to this toilet.
I like how they used frameless mirrors to create a spacious feel. Also, to create a classy and elegant impression. In my opinion, if mirrors are made with thick frames it will actually make the space feel cramped, and the overall composition of the material will be unbalanced. Small details will collide.
So, frameless mirrors are the right choice for this toilet. I even enjoy taking selfies in the mirror. It has really aesthetic vibes. Agree, right?
OTHER ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES
Other accessories focus on adding unique ornamental plants. I like a plant with wavy stems that create a diverse and natural impression to unite the overall impression of this toilet space.
The area under the sinks is used as a tissue storage area. Meanwhile, rubbish bins are placed in various corners while taking into account the correct placement composition and balance with each other.
In the main toilet area, there were added doormats that read "welcome" with color choices that were still in terracotta color gradations.
The toilet doors use wooden material, while other areas use ceramics with natural small stone motifs.
The inside area of the toilet uses a combination of white and black ceramics to create a clean, neat, and modern look.
Overall, the toilet with this terracotta concept can steal my heart well. Many material compositions are balanced. Also, the application of various accessories can produce a modern impression but still have a warm natural atmosphere.
