Hello Hive!
In light of the Living in a Material World Contest of the Architecture + Design Community, we are taking a trip to Leroy Merlin in France where we will feature selected materials that drew our attention and interest in these huge halls.
Leroy Merlin as most of you already know is a huge home improvement store present in several countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa. To peruse the aisles of this gigantic store teeming with construction materials, furniture, and fixture will certainly ignite creativity. It is a playground for any design enthusiast.
It is in selecting the right material and finishes to use in a project which determines whether a structure or a space is mediocre or uniquely designed. It is vital that all textures and materials are in harmony and for this reason, a mood board is created.
A Mood Board (also known as a material board) is a collage of images, selected materials, and finishes used in design to present to the client for approval that also serves as a guide to clearly illustrate the style in the conceptual stage of a project.
Actual material samples are required to ensure accuracy in the selection process. Nowadays, we rely on online material libraries but today, we will do it through our material shopping trip. Are you all set? Let's go!
Perusing through the aisles was synonymous with an experience of being in a wonderland, like a child inside a toy store.

Specialty Paint Finishes
Loft Original Paint is a thick paint to achieve a graphic concrete effect for walls, floor, worktop, even in walk-in showers by overlapping 2 colors.
On the right is a kitchen vignette at the entrance of the huge hall. Speaking of upgrading the existing kitchen and bathroom with a tight budget, repainting old fashioned cabinet doors and tiles with these specialty paints will give them a fresh new look.
