Architecture + Design: Filling the strip foundation and its maintenance.
Greetings friends!
It's time to tell about the momentous moment when I saw the strip foundation of my house.
In my previous posts in the Architecture + Design community, you can see all the stages of construction that preceded this moment.
I had two options for pouring the foundation, preparing concrete on site or ordering it from the factory and delivering it to the site with mixers.
Considering that the labor hours and the laboriousness of this task would override the logistics costs for me, I decided to stay on the second option and, on the appointed day, the mixers poured concrete into the formwork.
I remember this day well, for it happened the day after my wife's birthday.
You can say from the ball to the ship).
This was preceded by an outdoor barbecue.
Another point why I ordered ready-made concrete is that it is possible to pour the entire volume of concrete and, using a concrete vibrator, expel all airiness from the concrete.
I took a concrete vibrator at a construction tool rental, it was more profitable than buying one.
The machine you see in the photos is ideal for work on all construction sites and in hard-to-reach places.
The long pin allowed the concrete to vibrate to a depth of 4 meters when it touched the columns.
The relatively light body made it possible to work at high heights, holding it with one hand.
Here you can see the name and characteristics of the concrete vibrator, which I can recommend for its performance.
This is what the strip foundation looked like before the concrete mixers reached my plot of land.
Precision fit of the formwork ensures the ideal surface of the future foundation.
This is what often kept me awake, I was very worried about the accuracy of the calculations.
Each column received a pinch point and now the house can grow up.
This site is one of the most critical. Here the foundations of the house and the basement will be joined together.
It's hard to imagine how it will be. while you are looking at a sheet of paper with blueprints, I am talking about a person who is not an expert in construction work.
Guess where the barrel of pickles will be in my basement).
By that time, a real watchman settled on my site, who did not let anyone close to the building materials.
Yes, while still, building materials were stored just under the sun, they had to be protected from greedy glances.
If you noticed, the title of this post talks about strip foundation maintenance.
What kind of service?
Why service it and how to do it?
The fact is that, under the scorching sun, chemical processes occurring in concrete can stop rapidly and unevenly.
This can lead to cracking of the foundation, the concrete will tear and crumble, like a dry loaf.
In order for the concrete hardening processes to proceed slowly and evenly, it is necessary to water the strip foundation with water.
I took care of this in advance, if you remember my post about the installation of communications on my site.
Every day, 21 days in a row, after pouring concrete into the formwork, I came and watered the foundation with water in the morning and in the evening.
As a result, in a month. when we moved on to the next stage of construction, I did not find any cracks on the surface of the foundation.
The only thing that saddened me then was that the corn, on the opposite side of the road from my house, was still taller than my house.)
But this is fixable.
To be continued.

I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.
For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
