Architecture + Design: Lego for adults - day one.
Greetings friends!
Dreams about your home, sweet if you dream about it with your beloved wife.
I'm not sure if the construction process brought me more pleasure than such dreams.
Without the support of my beloved, I would not have been able to decide on such a decisive step as acquiring land and starting the construction of a house in the village. It's not easy to leave the city comforts and turn your attention to where sometimes the wind brings the smell of manure from plowed fields lol.
I continue the epic about the construction of my house.
As you already know from previous publications, we stopped at the fact that concrete was poured into the formwork of the strip foundation and I was faced with a maintenance process, periodic watering of concrete with water from a hose for uniform setting of concrete.
Waiting is not inaction.
The next step is to raise the foundation above ground level, in some places, where the slope of the site is greater, the foundation will become a plinth.
I had several options to do this.
It was possible to bring in rubble stone, build a formwork and pour the foundation in this way, or, simply, like a tape foundation, pour concrete without filler in the form of rubble stones.
I decided to follow the path of those who built serious structures, using factory concrete foundation blocks for these purposes.
In essence, these blocks are similar to the constituent parts of the Lego Technician, but they are connected using cement mortar.
These blocks are produced by factories in three sizes, I will not bother you with numbers.
For my purpose, this was not very convenient, because my foundation is stepped and the height of these blocks did not allow me to bring out even rows of blocks and overlap them as is done in brickwork.
I decided to talk with the directors of the factories for the manufacture of blocks according to my requirements, the height I need.
At two factories I was refused, but at the third, the director agreed to fulfill my order and, on the appointed day, they began to deliver blocks to our plot of land.
But, before that, there was the most difficult process, I had to count each block, its size and its exact location on the surface of the strip foundation.
When they brought me the first batch of blocks, I realized that chaos is what I see in front of me and doubted that we would find the blocks we needed, lol
To assemble the blocks, I needed a crane, which I found at a crossroads before entering the city.
The crane operator turned out to be a very hardworking and responsible person, moreover, he turned out to be a relative of the builders who built my house and he made them work like ants without restraining their hands and they did not resist, lol.
Three people easily coped with this job. A Chinese concrete mixer that I bought came in handy for me, in which we prepared a cement mortar for pouring joints, or, rather, for pouring wedges between blocks.
The process went faster than I thought.
During my lunch break, I helped the guard guard the building materials.
And the guard gave me confidence in this matter.
Someday, in place of this pile of earth will become our bedroom, our bedroom will appear.
I did not expect that in the first day of editing we will be able to do so much. All these photographs were taken on the same day.
We can already say that the basement of my house began to function as a warehouse for building materials.
This section contains the back of the house, or north facade.
This crane was very old, but it did a great job, but sometimes its squeak bothered me.
In this photo you can see the masonry and the stitching of the blocks using cement mortar.
Later, we will erect the vertical formwork and fill the columns that will tie the strip foundation and concrete blocks together.
The intersections of the axes of different levels of the house are the most critical areas.
For now, we are still below ground level.
Here you can see the shape of the ends of the blocks. When two blocks are connected, a vertical container is formed into which we poured cement mortar.
Not without errors. This is the case when math does not help to achieve the ideal, lol.
This place was filled with concrete and became one with the blocks.
As a foreman, I was worried about the safety of construction work and tried to avoid injuries to the builders.
The sun began to set over the horizon and we stopped work.
The next day we will continue to build the foundation of our house, but this, we will see in the next publication.
To be continued.
Photos taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 camera
I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.
For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
