How is my dear Hive community? I hope that very well, it is the first time that I write for the architecture and design community, today I want to show you a little about my last trip to the city of Piriaopolis, in the middle of November 2021, I had the pleasure of visiting the castle of Piria among other places of tourist interest in the area.
¿Cómo se encuentra mi querida comunidad de Hive? espero que muy bien, es primera vez que escribo para la comunidad de arquitectura y diseño, hoy quiero mostrarles un poco sobre mi ultimo viaje a la ciudad de Piriaopolis, a mediados del mes de noviembre del 2021, tuve el placer de conocer el castillo de Piria entre otros lugares de interes turístico de la zona.
The castle of Piria was built in 1897, initially to be the residence of Fernando Juan Santiago Francisco María Piria de Grossi, a renowned Uruguayan businessman and alchemist recognized for creating the Piriapolis spa, Francisco Piria initially bought it in 1890 2700 hectares from the Pan de Azucar hill to the Rio de la Plata and began his project called Piriapolis.
However, it is currently under the authority of the Maldonado administration and its main use is as a municipal museum.
El castillo de Piria fue construido en el año 1897, en principio para ser la residencia de Fernando Juan Santiago Francisco María Piria de Grossi un reconocido empresario y alquimista uruguayo reconocido por crear el balneario de Piriapolis, en su inicio Francisco Piria compro en el año 1890 2700 hectareas desde el cerro Pan de Azucar hasta el Rio de la Plata y comenzo su proyecto llamado Piriapolis.
Sin embargo actualmente se encuentra bajo dependencia de la intendencia de Maldonado y su uso principal es como museo municipal.
The building presents a marked mix between medieval and Renaissance architectural styles, we can see a square castle with circular towers in its corners, inside the castle has two floors, the lower one open to the public and the upper one only accessible on guided tours, On the other hand, it also has a basement that is not available to tourists and the first instance was where Francisco Piria installed his Alchemy laboratory.
A popular legend tells that Francisco Piria reached the most advanced level of Alchemy and that his ghost can sometimes be seen in his castle.
La edificación presenta una marcada mezcla entre los estilos arquitectónicos medieval y renacentista, podemos apreciar un castillo cuadrado con torres circulares en sus esquinas, por dentro el castillo consta de dos pisos el de abajo abierto al público y el de arriba solo accesible en visitas guiadas, por otra parte también tiene un sótano que no esta disponible para los turistas y el primera instancia fue donde Francisco Piria instaló su laboratorio de Alquimia.
Una leyenda popular cuenta que Francisco Piria llego al nivel mas avanzado de la Alquimmia y que en su castillo a veces se puede ver su fantasma.
The entrance has gray granite columns, and the main door as well as many of its decorations and works of art present terracotta in its elaboration, the interior stairs are also made of gray granite, most of these works for the construction of the castle were made by pick and stone masters brought from Europe by the owner.
The gardens have a path of palm trees from the Canary Islands that take you from the main entrance to the castle entrance, a curious fact is that if you walk through the gardens you can find many species of exotic plants, references to masonry and alchemy, works of art and sculptures.
La entrada posee columnas de granito gris, y la puerta principal así como muchas de sus decoraciones y obras de arte presentan terracota en su elaboración, las escaleras del interior tambien son de granito gris, la mayoria de estas obras para la construcccion del castillo fueron realizadas por maestros del pico y la piedra traidos desde Europa por el propietario.
Los jardines presenta un camino de palmeras de las Canarias que te llevan desde la entrada principal hasta la entrada del castillo, un dato curioso es que si pasea por los jardines podras encontrar muchas especies de plantas exoticas, referencias a la masoneria y la alquimia, obras de arte y esculturas.
I had the pleasure of visiting the museum thanks to the Migrantes Club House program created by the NGO Manos Venecuayas that seeks to connect young migrants between 19 and 29 years old, we were a very large group and I met many people, in addition to knowing the Castle of Piria we went to the beach and we met the Fountain of Venus without a doubt an incredible trip.
If you want to visit the castle of Piria, it is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free. The location is difficult to explain, but here is the GPS point.
Yo tuve el placer de visitar el museo gracias al programa Migrantes Club House creado por la ONG Manos veneguayas que busca relacionar jovenes migrantes entre 19 y 29 años, fuimos un grupo muy amplio y conocí bastantes personas, además de conocer el Castillo de Piria fuimos a la playa y conocimos la Fuente de Venus sin duda alguna un viaje increible.
Si deseas visitar el castillo de Piria se encuentra abierto de martes a domingo de 10 a 18 hs y la entrada es gratuita, la ubicacion es dificil de explicar pero les dejo aqui el Punto GPS.
