So in the 21st century, we think that tiny house living is a completely new phenomena, but according to these mini magazines from the 1950's and 60's collected by my Mum, tiny house living was a bit of a trend back then too.
Admittedly, designs and the materials used to fabricate tiny homes are far more advanced today than they were in those days, I applaud everyone who realises that a mcmansion doth a home not necessarily make- a tiny house can be more of a home AND considering that most of the earth's population actually live in small houses simply due to economical and spatial constraints anyway.
Before I safely packed these magazine away, I did have a look through them and what they do lack from today's standards of tiny house design, is on one side, the lack of mobility- to which many tiny houses offer today and also if built on a permanent space, they lack the ingenuity of renewable energy technologies to be incorporated into the core design of the structure, aswell as the consideration or even awareness of being able to construct a house so that it harmoniously integrates in with and uses the natural environment to it's benefit, such as the features of Fallingwater by architect Frank Lloyd Wright as beautifully and lovingly shared here by @storiesoferne/fallingwater-an-icon-of-architecture
So from Mum's the vault, comes a few of the magazines that Mum collected- at this stage just the front covers of them and when I am near them again (I will scan their contents and post here because even though they are all about 60-70 years old, I still think that there is some merit in their designs and in the minimum, we can have a chuckle at them. Here is some more info on them here https://sydneylivingmuseums.com.au/post-war-sydney-home-plans-1945-1959

And I have a question, what is you favourite TV show or Movie house?
One of mine as a kid growing up in the 70's is the Brady Bunch house AND I just found out they they have done a whole 2019 renovation special on HGTV. Definitely going to have to watch that!
