Hello everybody! Church architecture has been getting my attention lately. The architecture of the temples stands out against the background of other buildings, and their style and history of the buildings is surprising. The Church of St. Basil is of great importance to me, since I was baptized in this building as a child. Today I will tell you about this amazing building and its extraordinary history.
The building of the cathedral and the building that served as a temporary cathedral.
the church of St. Basil the Great initially looked like a small wooden building. Priest Adam Zhdanovich was the initiator of its construction in the 1900s. However, after the war, the temple was completely destroyed.
The priest went to great lengths to restore the temple. The fact is that the conscientious authorities prevented them from doing this. The building of the church was restored only in 1947. It was a wooden building resembling a village house. It was distinguished only by the presence of crosses on the roof and some church elements. Such, as in the photo below, the church has existed to our time.

Throughout the existence of the temple, there were repeated attacks by unknown people on it. They tried once again to destroy the wooden building. However, they did not succeed.
Today the building is at the final stage of construction. It was changed by obscenity and given a new life and a new architectural appearance.
The construction of the new temple began only in 2017. Until that time, the century-old building was in decline. It had to be either closed or completely replaced. It was decided to revive the building of the Cathedral of St. Basil the Great in a new guise.
There is a church shop next to the temple. This small building took over the function of a church for some time. This is how the baptismal ceremonies took place.
Currently, the church is almost completed and can accept believers into its walls and conduct church rituals and prayers. This means that there is no need for a temporary building and it was converted into a church shop.
The Church of St. Basil the Great acts as a volunteer counseling group for women in crisis, a Sunday school and a place of worship.
Since the Church was built in the old part of the city, the buildings around are very old. This is probably not the most disagreeable area, but against the background of the outbuildings of local residents, the Temple stands out and attracts attention.
I would like to pay special attention to the central tower whose height is more than 20 meters. Due to the height and stele of the building, the tower is visible from the distant grounds of the old city and attracts attention.
There is a separate entrance on each side of the church building, but at the moment only the central entrance is active. However, the architects paid special attention to the entrance to the tower and decorated it with church symbols from above. Soon it will be a beautiful door.
I really like to pay attention to the little things, especially if it's church architecture. For example, this sign is on the facade of a building from the street side ...
Apparently, it is written in the Old Russian language, which is not understandable to modern residents and native speakers. But I could make out some words and they are dedicated to priests who have contributed to the development of spirituality and the preservation of this church.
Orthodox churches have many bizarre shapes. Architectural styles enable architects to create masterpieces and bring them to life. In the case of the Church of St. Basil, I cannot give a clear assessment of the style. In my opinion, this is a mixture of classicism and modern style.
Modern or ancient architecture is impressive. People throughout history create masterpieces. Church architecture has been familiar to mankind since ancient times and to this day attracts attention with its beautiful and long history. This is mesmerizing.
