There are beautiful temples in the world. But there are those who have lost their former greatness and are in a dilapidated state. There is one of these temples in a small historical Belarusian town. They have been trying to restore it unsuccessfully for many years. It is a historic site with a rich history.
This building is called the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. It belonged to the Jesuits. Construction began in the 16th century. After the construction, the church was reconstructed several times.
The original view of the Jesuit church changed depending on the ownership of the territory on which it was located.
According to one of the legends, the Russian empress Catherine 2 once visited the Mstislavsky Jesuit church. Two boys dressed as angels laid a wreath on the head of the empress. This meeting made an impression on the Empress and she gave a lot of money to the ministers of the church.
The building is currently in a deplorable state. Little money is allocated for its reconstruction, and therefore it is gradually being destroyed.
The roof collapsed under its own weight. Now the church is fenced off and is a dangerous facility. Ordinary people have no way to go inside.
Work on the restoration of the church began gradually. But due to insufficient funding, there are no results.
Local residents have a dream to restore the church to its original appearance. This would be one of the main attractions of the historic city.
It is hoped that the Jesuit church of St. Michael the Archangel will get a second chance at life. I hope that by this time there will be something to restore.
