The first visible building from the main entrance. I don’t know much about architecture but the design of this building drew my attention. I like the triangular-looking shape of the roof of the building and the supporting pillars. All attendees had to confirm registration and pick up wristbands for the event here.
These colorful flags were also by the main entrance. My guess would be that each flag represented a faculty. I loved the way they adorned the entrance but mostly loved the greenery that surrounded the university itself.

Hi hivers and members of the Architecture+Design community. This is my first time posting here.
I recently went to a Design University in Kobe, Japan. I attended a culture festival there. This was about my fourth time to the event but it was my first time to go in three years. At this event, students showcase their artwork and designs. I hadn’t been there since the start of corona. All four times that I went, was to support students who are children of some of my very good friends. One of my friend’s son studied fashion designing and now owns a clothing line, another studied film-making and now works in that field in Tokyo. This time in particular, I went to support a friend whose daughter is a budding artist. She often does drawings and paintings and has in the past, designed brochures for school events. Stay with me to see the layout of some areas of the university and a little of what I experienced at the event.
Lots of Greenery and Open Spaces
The atmosphere itself was quite relaxing. There were several areas with wide open spaces and there was so much greenery around. I could see some nearby hills. I loved the lawns and noticed that some sections of the outdoor area were “floors of wood”. I imagine that it’s a good environment for students to be inspired to create and design.
On the compound I found a persimmon tree and saw some long outdoor benches. I was able to capture one but I could barely fit it in my frame. I wish I had gotten another shot from a different angle. I also saw a stump of wood that was painted in the form of a creature. I thought that was creative though it looked a bit scary.

Viewing Students’ Artwork and Designs
Works of art by students of Kobe Design University
After walking past several lawns and through some buildings, I viewed some colorful pieces of art. If you look at the last piece of art shown, you’ll notice a colorful wooden structure. It seems to have been built from scraps of wood. I’m not sure what the creator was thinking but I did notice a “Keep Out” sign and so I kept my distance. Lol!
I briefly visited the departments of
Product and Interior Design and Fashion and Textile Design but mostly saw fashion and textile designs. After leaving that section,
I grabbed a bite and sat by one of the wooden-floored open spaces. It was so relaxing that I almost dozed off. I was awakened when I saw some form of cosplay creature walking across the deck. Lol!

Due to corona restrictions that are still in place, each guest had just a 2-hour block to enjoy the event. Seeing the creature helped me keep a good check of time. I had just a few minutes left to enjoy the lovely surroundings embedded in nature.
Thank you for reading my post. Have a great week. 😃
