I usually haven't done any posts about the accommodations that I stay in during my travels but in this case, I wanted to share this with you. While traveling in Madeira, we stayed in 3 different accommodations and in the fourth one too on a nearby island but this specific one was special. We had decided to fully enjoy our vacation and booked a villa for ourselves, for 5 nights. I say it's a bang for the buck because it only cost us 178 Eur per night. It might seem a bit expensive at the first glance but what you get for this money is quite insane.
This place is called Sunset cliff villa and is located in the southwestern part of the country, in a small town named Faja Da Ovelha. There are 6 of these villas in this place but the one we got had the best view of the ocean and down the cliff.
Big terrace area at the front of the house.
These are quite new buildings, only 2 years old. The villa has 2 floors and this is how it looks from the outside.
On the first floor, you have a big living room area, kitchen and a shower room, there are actually 2 shower rooms, another one is upstairs too, as well as two toilets. I thought I had a photo of the kitchen too but as it turns out, I don't.
Here is a view of the living room.
Upstairs you can find a shower room and two master bedrooms. It was only two of us so one of the bedrooms stayed empty. How great is it to wake up in the morning, slide the door open and have an amazing view of the ocean below.
On the second floor, you can also find a patio that is not as large but great for a morning coffee.
Outside on the first-floor level, you can also find a nice corner for chillaxing under the palm tree
The place also comes with a bbq that we used several times to make dinner.
Dinner table outside with a local cat. If you are a cat lover then you are in luck. There are a couple of sweet local cats and this one looks to be very young. Although he was quite eager to eat our food.
Of course, every evening you have a great overview of the sunset from the yard. Making and eating dinner with this view is awesome. Here are a couple of shots I took on 3 different evenings. The place is 420 meters above sea level so clouds above the ocean are often at the same level of altitude.
If all that wasn't enough already. You also have an infinity pool on the upper deck. Although this is a shared pool and people from the other 5 villas can also visit it, I didn't see anyone there during this time for some reason. It was great to take a morning dip or night swim there.
So if you ever go to Madeira and look for some special accommodation I strongly advise you to visit this place. 178 Eur for a night is not much for this Villa if you ask me. The same kind of looking place would be around 1000Eur or more per night in somewhere like Miami. In Iceland, I would get a small 1 bedroom cottage for 178 eur😀
I have to note that you will definitely need a car if you want to go there. No public transport will take you there and the place is somewhat remote. This is great because you can expect some peace, quiet and calmness there.
