Hola amigos de Hive, en esta ocasión aproveché el sol del atardecer para tomar unas fotografías de la estructura de la iglesia de mi localidad, una iglesia con mucha historia, y muy significativa para mi familia, pues mis padres se casaron allí, y a mí me bautizaron allí cuando tenía 6 años de edad , más vale tarde que nunca. Además ha sido lugar de encuentro para la familia en momentos de luto, pero también en momentos de felicidad como en casamientos de amigos y familiares.

La iglesia San Juan Bautista de La Ermita está ubicada en San Cristóbal, Venezuela, y según Wikipedia fue inaugurada en 1854, y ha sufrido varias reestructuraciones y restauraciones desde entonces, de hecho en este preciso momento se encuentra en condiciones precarias y están realizando trabajos de restauración, por lo que su interior no es muy llamativo actualmente. Esta iglesia de estilo barroco es la segunda más antigua de la ciudad, pero es la más grande de todas.

Algo curioso de lo que me acabo de enterar consultando en Wikipedia es que su cúpula frontal y central, es una réplica de la cúpula principal del palacio de los inválidos en París, mientras que la cúpula posterior ubicada sobre el altar es una réplica en menor tamaño de la de Iglesia San Pedro en Roma. Además, el Cristo que preside las ceremonias y el reloj que está a un costado del presbiterio fueron traídos de Alemania a mediados de siglo XX.

Debido a que he vivido toda mi vida en este sector de la ciudad, para mi la iglesia suele pasar desapercibida, pero cuando la observo de manera consciente, me doy cuenta de que es una estructura imponente, y que se puede observar en su máximo esplender desde la Plaza José Antonio Páez. Lamentablemente por la parte posterior no se puede apreciar de la mejor manera, habría que subir a uno e lo edificios cercanos para poderla apreciar bien.

Lamentablemente no puedo mostrarles el interior de la manera en que me hubiese gustado, ya que por los trabajos de restauración que se están llevando a cabo, no hay mucho que mostrar más que arena y sillas volteadas. Sin embargo, pude hacer una foto de la cúpula principal por la parte interior.

Una historia graciosa relacionada con esta iglesia, cuenta que había un padre que tenía una novia, por supuesto la religión católica prohíbe a los sacerdotes relacionarse de manera sentimental con cualquier persona, por lo que este sacerdote salía en la noches de la casa curál, y se echaba encima una sábana negra para cruzar la plaza José Antonio Páez y que no fuese reconocido, algo que aterrorizó durante varias semanas a la comunidad, pues creían que se trataba de un espanto, hasta que pronto se dieron cuenta que se trataba del sacerdote que salía a escondidillas para ver a su novia.

This baroque style church is the second oldest in the city, and it is the largest of them all.

Something curious that I just found out by consulting Wikipedia is that its front and central dome, is a duplicated of the main dome of the palace of the invalids in Paris, while the rear dome located above the altar is a duplicated in smaller size of that of St. Peter's Church in Rome. In addition, the Christ that presides over the ceremonies and the clock on one side of the presbytery were brought from Germany in the mid-twentieth century.

Because I have lived all my life in this area of the city, for me the church usually goes unnoticed, but when I observe it consciously, I realize that it is an imposing structure, and can be seen in its maximum splendor from the José Antonio Páez square . Unfortunately, from the back you can not appreciate the church in the best way, you would have to go inside of one of the nearby buildings to be able to appreciate it well.

Unfortunately I can't show you the interior the way I would have liked to, because of the restoration work that is being carried out, there is not much to show other than sand and overturned chairs. However, I was able to take a picture of the main dome from the inside.

A funny story related to this church, tells that there was a priest who had a girlfriend, of course the Catholic religion forbids priests to relate in a sentimental way with anyone, so this priest went out at night of the curial house, this terrified the community for several weeks, because they thought it was a ghost, until they soon realized that it was the priest who was sneaking out to see his girlfriend.
